Capn Caffeine 0 Posted January 31, 2008 Have read over tutorials round 30 times to ensure I understand all correctly. I am working on a new Island and heres problems I have. The largest Sat_LCO map and Mask_ LCO V3 seems to be ableto digest is 8192, if I go 10240 or even 20480 Visitor pukes , gags , groans and crashes. I resize same maps to 8192, and try same procedure at resolution 2.5 and Hooray! I see my blasted surfaces and all the goodies as I am supposed to see. Does any one have any blasted idea at all of what I am doing wrong, or is it something with the settings ? Any ideas or help at all will be greatly appreciated and I'll name a town or hill after you :P. Regards
opteryx 1562 Posted January 31, 2008 Can't really say unless you post ALL your project settings. Also, 8192 seems like a odd size, in my personal experience I've had a lot of trouble with imagery that isn't the power of two size. "resolution 2.5 " Do you mean cell size? Way to high res in that case, better stick with 10m cells if you're doing maps bigger than 2,56 km.
Capn Caffeine 0 Posted February 1, 2008 Hey Op thanks for that , seems no matter how many times I read something , and even print it out and follow step by step I always get a little something a bit off. I truly hope someone comes out with either a V3 helper addon or a new land editing prog all together. The road tool blows as does the objects tool. Wrp tool rocked just wish it was compatible with AA. A little program I tried, and liked was EARTHSCULPTOR. Free version is limited to 4 textures BUT, the full version allows you to map or edit in 3D and add textures from AA such as the .png files I found it quite helpful in some fine editing and also sat map basic. So screw downloading a monster sat map. It exports up to 4096 height maps and 4096 textures , check it out . Feel like an idiot for my lil mistake but I will admit to it. Hope Earthsculptor will help at least someone as much as its helped me.
