F-16 0 Posted November 10, 2007 My dedicated server is only showing up in the LAN menu. My theory is that my router ( a netgear WGT624) is messing it up. Please help, I want to host a game with my friends tonight EDIT: after some testing I figured out that I need to see an eye doctor; the server was there the whole time. However, it is just my luck that you cant connect from the Internet list unless, you must do it from the LAN list. The other thing is that it wont respond to ping requests even after I told my firewall to do so. Kinda hard for everyone to bring their computers to my house. RN Escobar 0 Posted November 12, 2007 if u feel safe DMZ it for the odd occasion you host a game, or go through the port forwarding routine. 2302 is standard game port, then u will need 2303 and 2305 if u need VOIP and obviously allow the same ports in WIN firewall or any other software u use for a FW on the machine hosting the game. then u might want to read up on setting up a server config, otherwise your server will show as "xxxx on xxxxx", which will be "your game name on your computer name"
F-16 0 Posted November 17, 2007 Thanks, I set it up to forward 2302 to 2305 under the server's ip (192.168.1.5, this computer on the network) and restarted the server but it still won't let me on connecting from the Internet menu. In the server prompt it says name uses modified blah blah blah player name connecting. player name disconnected. and gives me an error saying "connecting failed" also, any way to allow ping requests so its not always "?" One other thing, I use the free version of ventrillo on the server and it doesn't allow you to change the ip so it gets stuck in the network, not being allowed to be accessed by the outside world. Any way to allow it through without taking the router out of the loop(the server is a separate computer...duh)?
F-16 0 Posted November 17, 2007 One other thing... Is there any good complete documentation about dedicated (ArmA) servers anywhere? There is a little on the wiki but its scattered and very vague on important areas.
