OFPCAT 0 Posted October 22, 2007 Just a question, whether ARMA could be compatible with VISTA system or Not? For playing ARMA, I just purchased a new notebook in high cost last week and still haven't got ARMA. I plan to purchase the game online. But suddendly found in the forum, it seems it's not easy to play ARMA under Vista system. So annoyed currently. My notebook configuration: CPU: T7700 ( 2.4 GHz ) RAM: 2G DDR2 VAGCARD: NVDIA GeForce 8600M GT HARDDISK: 200GB ( serial ATA, 5400 revolves, 100GBx2) OPERATING System: Win Vista TM( could only install Vista)
Chris Death 0 Posted October 22, 2007 What about going there where you bought it and say that you bought it for that one game only. Then buy the game there (if possible) and if it doesn't work give back the game or let change your notebook until they can serve you with a decent one which will run the software you bought the hardware for. Or better: try the demo first. ~S~ CD
OFPCAT 0 Posted October 22, 2007 Changing a notebook after purchase will be a fortune! Maybe return the game disc will be a better choice. But could they accept that...?
Madus_Maximus 0 Posted October 22, 2007 Returning software these days is somewhat iffy because of the simple fact it could have been copied before returning. I think the best you'll get is a replacement copy or be able to swap it for something of equal value (that's how most places operated in the UK at least when PC games are concerned). They have to "destroy" the copy you see because of the possibilty the key it came with is in use, which it will be if you install it. If you can get a copy of XP (assuming you have issues playing ArmA in Vista) then you could set up a dual-boot so you can play it and other games that won't work under Vista. OFPCAT 0 Posted October 22, 2007 Thanks, Maxisum, I also thought of installing two operating systems in my notebook. But my technical guy told me that would make the system unstable. Oh, shit
Madus_Maximus 0 Posted October 22, 2007 It'll be no more unstable than running one. The only thing is you'll lose hard drive space when you partition it when you make them seperate volumes.
Chris Death 0 Posted October 22, 2007 Changing a notebook after purchase will be a fortune! Maybe return the game disc will be a better choice. But could they accept that...? That's the point where i always start wondering about people complaining because having wasted some 40 bucks for a game that it doesn't run on a rig, where they probably have wasted 1000 + of bucks. Look - there where you put the more money, you have the more rights to get what you want. And don't let them make you afraid just because they aren't happy about the fact that you expect something that works from them. But however, Madus_Maximus pointed you into a good direction too. ~S~ CD
OFPCAT 0 Posted October 23, 2007 Fortunately, now I could play the demo under VISTA after solving the D3DX9 issue! I think I could buy a formal game?? Oh, the picutre of the game is really awesome, very very realistic and the OFP couldn't compare it at all. Actually, the SONI notebook costed me almost 3300 bucks with the machine itself, Virus sofware and some other accessories.
