render frames ahead

Recommended Posts

i'm getting mouse lag in arma, i move to the left and i takes about half a sec till it moves, and when i stop the mouse, same thing - half a sec till it stops...

apparently changing a setting "render frames ahead" from 3 to 0 will improve performance and fix (or help) the mouse lag. i've googled it, everyone says to do it and it'll improve performance, but can't find out how. so for my question, where can i change the setting from 3 to 0. whistle.gif

If you have an nVidia card and windowsXP: Get coolbits (You can find the setting only in the classic control panel)

Nvidia+Vista: ?? (Maybe Rivatuner)

Ati: Ati Tray Tools (Note that Ati calls this setting 'Flip queue size'wink_o.gif

In addition (NVidia card), check for the little app

'NVTray'

NVTray_1.0.5.1-B4

which will allow you to doubleclick trayicon to enable coolbits

and also enables the classic control panel (if you want it)

With an rightclick, you get to setup for example render ahead frames easily.

And yes, of course

RivaTuner 2.04

for more controls.

I saw a prerender something setting in rivatuner, but it's in VSync setting. Is it right? It helps a bit with VSync, but I play without.

E: It works! And much better. Thx.

Thanx! this really made the mouse response better!

I got Rivatuner and disabled the Vsync. I set the buffer to 0, but that crashes the whole system. Set it to 1 now, and works great.

If I set render frames ahead to 0, my PC goes blue screen -> death as soon as I launch ArmA. But setting it to 1 works OK. Any clues to why? crazy_o.gif

I got the same. Seems disabling Vsync and render frames ahead 0 doesnt work at same time.

Setting '0' is unsupported from driver level (exactly because of the

instability) and even if Rivatuner is capable of 'forcing' the

value, it is *not* recommended to do so.

Standard setting on every fresh driver install (keep that in mind) is '3'

..depending on your setup, use 1 or 2. (using 2 here myself)

-

Also observe, that not every game engine benefits from the

lowest possible (= stable/fastest) setting;..there are as well

some engines, which perform best with values even above '3'

However, I think '6' is the highest setting you should ever use,

because beyond that, everything exhibits bad mouse lag and

other problems (like sound skipping etc.)

So, for always peak performance (per different engine), its favorable

to set up an profile for each and every game you play using nHancer, for example.

One setting is just not optimal for everything. smile_o.gif

Thx for clearing that up, Seem I need to create game profiles then.

BTW I recommend everyone with fps around 15, to do this trick, it really enhances your aiming.

0 crashes your pc everytime you start arma. 1-2 works fine, didn't notice the difference between those two.
