Patches, the acquisition thereof

Ave, all.

First of all, please forgive me if a thread is already running on this topic or has been previously dealt with - with my poor connection it's an afternoon's work to sit paging back through the archives so I start by breaking the first rule of forums...

But that leads me onto my question.  I currently run bog-standard Op Flash version 1 point nothing.  Now, I would like to upgrade, but given that I live in the REAL world, where most people don't have broadband and have to suffer the vagaries of British Telecom's creaky ancient phone system, can anybody suggest an easy way of getting hold of the FOUR patches I apparently need to download (at about 30-odd Mbs apiece, it seems)?  After all, if reading back through all these pages at my average 0.5-1.2kps is going to take me a good few hours, it's safe to say that I'd have to set aside literally weeks to download these mammoth files.

And if the answer to this is blindingly obvious, I apologise, but any advice gratefully received.

Would you believe 56k?  But either the modem's complete flannel pantaloons or the line is - and I'm pretty sure it's the line since I've tried the same modem somewhere else and the connection was far better.  That said, though, it's not practical for me to simply go to that place and download the patches there, either.  Ho-hum...

If that's the thing I saw in my local EB for Å34.99, that's one hell of a bag of chips!  

But I will keep my eyes open if it's possible to get the Red Hammer add-on independent of the game itself.  Cheers.
