Even if it would turn out to be vastly superior to OFP, I wouldn't pay more than $40.

BTW, I think that between OFP, RH, Resistance, IL, and all the user made missions, campaigns, addons and mods, we'll have plenty to keep us happy as it is. In fact, the USMC just might be jealous of us!

I won't, why should you pay for it when you can download it off from Morpheus or something?

Please do not talk warez of ANY kind on this forum, it has no place here . I dont want to take action against the people who think warez is acceptable, and just saying "I baught OFP" does not make you immune.

I would like this thread to continue without talk of Warez.

Thank you

uh and i was just thinking about those prices..

why the #### they ask 40$+ for a piece of metal and a manual? wont they make a lot of more money if all game distributors lower their retail price to $15 ?

I would buy games all day for $15. look at the production costs:

printed manual in 2 colors (b/w): 1$

CD-ROM printed plate: 2$

box with art: 2$

lets see:

profit by 100 40$ games: $350

profit by 1000 15$ games: $1000

(since a great deal of warez circulates arround on this planet - i should know -, the 'question' for $40-games is smaller than the 'offer' as wished by publishers so by lowering prices more ppl would buy because of benifits explained below)

okay. and im sure the above prices are excadurated (or whuteva the word is spelled). people buy more games for $15 becuz its only $15 and they got a nice looking disc and a nice manual with cdkey for online play! so why copy it if its this cheap.

dudes im so convinced that if companies started to lower their prices, both developers/publishers and gamers will benefit this pricechange.... the publishers complain about the warezmarket destroying the gamesindustry, but isnt it their job to let the retail games be more attractive?

if only 1 publisher took the risk..

==================

EDIT:

Oh shit... xcuse me Armourdave. i was typing this post while u were trying to get on topic again :S

pardon me dont kickbanboot meh!

it isnt about warez being acceptable, its about the prices of companys being acceptable

EDIT2:

I don´t know if i´d be willing to pay 100$ for VBS-1,

assuming it would be made public and commercially available one day (what i doubt will ever happen),

most of VBS-1 would be certainly very boooring stuff for the casual computer gamer- the lack of real entertainment value, most likely Flashpoint players wouldn´t be able to understand and handle the content.

By saying "boring" i don´t refer to models or anything visual, but more to the core components RL military simulations are  made of, the majority of the Flashpoint community wouldn´t be happy with "playing" it for sure, apart from seing some new weapons.

Uhm, normaly I have the clinch with the moderators, but I do have to agree, this is not a \/\/ /\ R |# 7_ thread, and no joking about it, I did intent to more make it a VBS thread, but if this is not possible it should better get deleted or at least locked.

D_amn! You were one lucky rich-kid. At the release of doom I had a mere 386 16mhz SX w/ 4MB's RAM and the HD was no more than about 60MB's. The ammount of times I screwed up my autoexec.bat and config.sys trying to squeeze every last bit of juice out.....

EDIT: silly board ####'d D A M N sad.gif

If you believe it or not, it was a Commodore 486, wich my brother had given to me, after he had discovered that he is too dumb to use it in his bizz. Luckily he was on good fortune with his bizz, and had no money sorows. My old Pc was so realy old. a 8086, with 1mb ram, and a 10 mb hd. But, the Carrier command port did run fluently on it.

Just realized, next year is my 10 year FPS birthday. After doom there was no year I did not lay my hands on the newest fps titles. tounge.gif
