Lubinski 0 Posted August 13, 2007 Current Rig: P4 3.0EE 7800gs 1gig pc3200 SB Audigy 2 ZS 1 Sata HD 2 IDE HD's 1 CD Rom Device The Problem: I start arma and at sparatic periods either in game or in the menu my whole pc will lockup with a sort of screeching/ringing sound through the speakers. Its totally locked up by then have to hard reboot it. It does this at random times. Got any suggestions? Ive seen this happen with other games such as BF2 and BF2142 on my system just very very rarely, With arma it seems to do it every time with out fail. Im at my wits end here people...... Nonpoint 0 Posted August 13, 2007 You need more ram at least, 1 gig just wont do Arma justice. I have 3 and play without a page-file and without any problems. Lubinski 0 Posted August 24, 2007 Got 2 gigs of ram now, 1 sitting in the case till I can get a pair for it. I still get the lockups every now and again. tomcat_ 0 Posted August 27, 2007 pc freeze ups/lock ups can happen for many reasons... the fact that your pc is freezin gwith a squeal from the sound card...doesn't mean that is a sound card problem. Mine was freezing and will have that squeal but it wasn't the sound card.. i would check with that order: 1. Check if your memory is compatible with your motherboard. If you have altered timings or voltage on the sticks put them back to normal. Run a memtest86+, although it is helpfull it is doesn't always spot problems 2. Check your temps by a program of ur choice. I do not believe that it can be down to heat problems but yet again.. 3. Check ur psu...change it with another if u have any spare. Last but not least.
