Arkon2 0 Posted August 23, 2007 Hi CharveL, Thanks but you can't give enough feedback No, we need as much as possible to get the game mission right - Glad the ambulance showed up this time - but what a pain that the driver refuses to return Hopefully we can sort this problem out soon as its an essential element in Part one of the mission. Works fine in testing, but when we put it into a campaign we find all sorts of bugs start popping-up! The ambulance will still arrive unless you kill one of the guards. Thanks again Regards Arkon2
Guest Ti0n3r Posted August 24, 2007 You need to fix the broken script and the massive fps drop in part 2. I've given up on this mission for now.
Soldat32 0 Posted August 24, 2007 I get the same problem with Dracos car not exploding with script errors.
rmpc 0 Posted August 24, 2007 You need to fix the broken script and the massive fps drop in part 2. I've given up on this mission for now. Same here I have played part 1 using version 103 and 105, no problems getting through to part 2. But it is unplayable 2-4 fps. Shame as I thought part 1 was really enjoyable. Arkon2 0 Posted August 24, 2007 Hi, Ti0n3r/Soldat32/rmpc Have you tried the latest Version 1.06 ? Have fixed a load of stuff - but not sure about your FPS it maybe ok now! Remember that old save games will not be compatible with new Versions. Soldat32 - fixed the car not exploding bit (V 1.06) what was the script errors you mentioned? rmpc - Can you give me a detailed description of where you crossed the border - whether you had a vehicle and anything else that you can remember/ the more info the better please? Ti0n3r - just out of interest, did you never try to go through Corazo? Thank you all for your time and feedback - as you probably realise this is a very long and complicated bit of programing and without your help we would never be able to find all the bugs etc - in the long run it will be worth it cos there is a lot of enjoyment to be had for players - things really start to hot-up in Part two. Anyways, thanks again to you all. Regards Arkon2

rmpc 0 Posted August 24, 2007 rmpc - Can you give me a detailed description of where you crossed the border - whether you had a vehicle and anything else that you can remember/ the more info the better please? Hi Arkon2 When I played using version 103 I don't remember the exact place where I crossed but it was somewhere in Corazol. At the time I was in a flatbed ammo truck I had taken from a base in Ortago. The truck was loaded with weapons and ammo that I had collected along the way. When I crossed into part 2 I was still sat in the ammo truck, framerate had dropped from around 25-30 fps to about 4 fps I tried continuing with the mission hoping things would improve but nothing changed. With version 105 I remember exactly where I crossed the border, I had just been to the Ambulance base but got spotted and the alarm sounded. So I headed north east I think? towards Corazol. To the west of Corazol there is a road bridge over a small estuary guarded by a few soldiers and a UAZ AGS30. I killed them and took the UAZ crossed the bridge then made my way around the bay to a lighthouse, to the left (north) of the lighthouse there's a dock area. On the road to the east of the dock I destroyed a t72 next to a church, I then made my way past the t72 still in the UAZ. On the road by the church there's a pedestrian crossing that is where I crossed the border with the same result an unplayable 4 fps.
Arkon2 0 Posted August 24, 2007 Hi rmpc, Thanks for the detailed description Do you know by any chance when (which day) you downloaded v 1.05? Also did you keep all your weapons/equipment/vehicles etc when you crossed into Part two? At the ambulance base, I presume that after you killed one of the guards the alarm sounded? The ambulance base has now been fixed (it should be waiting at the base when the player arrives) Well done for using your initiative to cross Corazol and cross the border I'm hoping that V 1.06 has sorted the FPS problem Thanks again for your time Regards Arkon2
rmpc 0 Posted August 24, 2007 Do you know by any chance when (which day) you downloaded v 1.05?Also did you keep all your weapons/equipment/vehicles etc when you crossed into Part two? Sorry can't remember when I downloaded 1.05 but I did remove all traces of 1.03 including saves folder before running it. Regarding weapons and vehicles, in both versions the vehicles retained all of the weapons I had collected. But I did noticed a slight bug in 1.03 I had loaded up the ammo truck with about a dozen or so PG-7VR and on my person I carried a Dragunov and an RPG- Launcher. As I stated in my earlier post despite the low framerate I tried to continue with the mission, on the way to the next objective I came across a t72 blocking the road, so I got out to deal with it only to find I had a Dragunov, a truckload of PG-7's but no Launcher. Arkon2 0 Posted August 24, 2007 Hi rmpc, Thanks for the info, The weapons and ammo should transfer over ok now. In campaigns this is supposed to be fairly straightforward but when you involve vehicles and the equipment in them its another matter They are not catered for and doing it dynamically (allowing the player to take any vehicle he wants) is rather difficult (probably has not been done before) In version 1.03 we still had not got the equipment quite right, hence the prob you had with the Launcher. Anyways, I think if we have cracked the FPS now - players will be able to explore Part 2. Thanks again Arkon2
rmpc 0 Posted August 25, 2007 Anyways, I think if we have cracked the FPS now - players will be able to explore Part 2. Â Sorry to say you may have to think again. Just tried 1.06 grabbed a vehicle and made a quick dash to the ambulance depot. On the plus side the ambulance was there and was easy enough to get into. After crossing the border the negative is in the top left hand corner of the above screenshot.
Soldat32 0 Posted August 25, 2007 Still getting the script error with Dracos car in the new patch.
Arkon2 0 Posted August 25, 2007 Hi, Soldat32 What is that script error please - what does it say? You did start from the begining again without using an old saved game? Thank you regards Arkon2
Arkon2 0 Posted August 25, 2007 Hi rmpc, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR Erm... You didn't use an old save game did you - I mean you started from the begining again? Any idea what FPS you were getting in Part 1? And just out of interest what spec is your machine? What sort of settings are you using - does adjusting them effect your FPS? I am getting 14-18 FPS - which is not good enough either EDIT 1) Ok, managed to optimize a bit, getting around 20 FPS in town - still trying to improve framerate 2) I have found that reloading Arma gives 2-3 fps improvement and restarting computer another 2-3 fps "setviewdistance" and lots of addons can effect "LAG" also So in the churchyard nearby where you crossed the border I'm now getting 20 FPS (25 in countryside)) on LOW settings I have updated V 1.06 with an optimized Part2. Thanks regards Arkon2
Soldat32 0 Posted August 25, 2007 Hi, Soldat32What is that script error please - what does it say? You did start from the begining again without using an old saved game? Thank you regards Arkon2 No I used a save I will start it again.I must say though these open ended missions rock.Cant wait till all the bugs are hammered out.:)Thanks for your efforts. Arkon2 0 Posted August 25, 2007 Hi Soldat32 Download Version 1.06 again as it has been updated Regards Arkon2
Soldat32 0 Posted August 26, 2007 Ok still got error with 106 and fresh game, Error on part 1 is "create_vehicle_pos" when I approach Dracos car or something like that. On part 2 huge FPS drop and I get "veh-[#]create vehicle [_class_position_position" etc etc.Doesnt seem to kill the game but still its annoying. Regards,
Arkon2 0 Posted August 26, 2007 Hi Soldat32 , Thanks for trying it out, Fixed the car error (does not effect game) Crossing the border is more difficult, I am getting 20 FPS in town and 25 in the countryside and am finding it hard to reproduce your results - if you was in a vehicle what was it? And just out of interest what spec is your machine? What sort of settings are you using? Any other info you think maybe useful may help.... I have found that reloading Arma gives 2-3 fps improvement and restarting computer another 2-3 fps "setviewdistance" and lots of addons can effect "LAG" also But after all that the lag maybe related to the error you are getting Testing..... Thanks again Regards Arkon2
adadaead 0 Posted August 27, 2007 I'm stuck on part 2 after where you assisinate the colonel and go to the pick up island. I guess the chopper should come and pick me up but nothing happens. I waited at that pick up island for a while then drove the boat where it says return to base the chopper was in the middle of the base i guess its not taking off to go the pick point island. I did call the radio the pilots go into the chopper but don't fly it they just sit there.
Arkon2 0 Posted August 27, 2007 Hi adadaead, Well done to get that far, you are the first i think You did call for pick-up when you reached the island (Parvulo)? (numbers 0 + 0 + 1 to call or use radio message) Did you get the text message "Now all I gotta do is wait"? What version are you using? Any other bugs that you found on the way or any other observations? Btw - did you find the FPS ok in Part 2? (was the framerate enough) Thanks very much for letting me know what has happened to you. In campaigns this is supposed to be fairly straightforward but when you involve vehicles and the equipment in them its another matter They are not catered for and doing it dynamically (allowing the player to take any vehicle he wants) is rather difficult (probably has not been done before) I've made a pair of scripts over at OFPEC -> Linky that save vehicles in campaign missions quite dynamically indeed. And if you don't like the way it's set up you can just take ideas from the script and implement them instead. I'm presently Beta-testing (sort of? ^^) your mission over at OFPEC atm, just thought I'd reply here real quick-like. Haven't gotten very far yet tho! Arkon2 0 Posted August 27, 2007 HI Wolfrug, Thanks for posting here Yes, we have used your scripts for the transfer from Part1 to Part2 in the mission already. Could never have attempted this without your scripts We have had a few problems - with script errors (see earlier posts) when starting Part2 and a huge drop in FPS (it is more laggy in Part2 anyway) was a bit worried that one might have become stuck in one of the loops, but this does not seem to be the case. Have a look at your scripts we have used if you have time (they have not been cleaned-up yet) StartPart2.sqs does the reloading. Perhaps you may have some ideas... Hope you like the mission, its me first and its a bit different from the norm. (The mission is still in Beta phase) Please use the very latest Version 1.06 (just been updated) Be glad to hear any thoughts/feedback that you my have. adadaead 0 Posted August 28, 2007 DANGER SOME SPOILERS Mission ver 1.06 and Arma 1.08 Thanks for fast feedback. I'm suprised i'm the first one. Your mission is great by the way we need more like that. ARMA seems to be more enjoyable when playing lone wolf missions rather then trying to reacreate a large scale battle, which i've never enjoyed even when it was tryed in OFP. I also like your style its very similar to some russian mission makers, with kind off holywood story line and its twist and turns. Yours is not very holywood but more realisicly military, but the story line keeps you going. The problems i've encountered was a couple of weird delete vehicle messages. For example I drove a land rover to the castle. After the talk with the officer the error line came on and the car vanished. A couple more of those came on. Nice emmersion but you should put more warning i drove the 4X4 after the battle at the base cause i didn't wanna run all the way to the rubber boat. On drive to the castle there is a weird farm house with an ammo ural and a uaz trying to escape which i caught and killed. My point is i drove right into the farm next to the town where a war crime is commited, well when cutscene rolled in i was killed in the 4x4 trying to reload the mission would cause a crash to windows. i guess you didn't entend driving for the player, sorry i had enough running to the military base at the start of part two. part one when on smoothly with the ambulance and staff i crawled to it trhough the fence hole got in to ride in a back and it took me across the border. At the beggining of part 2 for about 10 sec fps do drop but then its back to normal( i use dell xps with dual 2 core duo 2.14 i think porccesor wih 2 gig ram). All my settings are on high except for one is one medium i do get a fps drop not in your mission but in general when looking through sniper scope in the woods . I just dashed for the mountain base which is one downfall is all the running you intend. For example on the way to the rubber boat i didn't use the hospital but drove around all the towns straight to the boat. And the instructions on assasinations are not clear am supposed to enter the base and kill him or take sniper point which is impossible since the base is on the highest point in the island so i just walked to the base entrance where there is a sitting sniper listening to that horror music from OFP and walked to where the chopper was taking off and shot the colonel before he climbed into it. When i got to the island pick up point i did call the radio with the character saying all i have to do is wait. I waited like 20 arma minutes nothing came so i went in the boat to the home base the pilots where just sitting inside the chopper i flew the chopper to the island  and a pilot's dialog went: "welcome back major" and thats it, that where i'm stuck, is that how it supposed to end me being flown back to the base. Probably the best sp mission i've played in arma, its very interseting hard to stop. It does get a little ramboish till the end but you can't avoid that i guess. Arkon2 0 Posted August 28, 2007 Hi, adadaead Thanks for your lengthy feedback *SPOILER WARNING!* Quote[/b] ]I drove a land rover to the castle. After the talk with the officer the error line came on and the car vanished Do you remember if you had finished the talking bit/left the castle or when the error popped up? Quote[/b] ]i drove right into the farm next to the town where a war crime is commited, well when cutscene rolled in i was killed Erm... Sorry, but you are saying that you were right by Benoma when the Cutscene happened? The Cutscene should kick-in well before you get to Benoma... hmmm... not sure how this has occured. Just out of interest, did you follow up on the Draco saga? Quote[/b] ]And the instructions on assassinations are not clear Ok, I'll look at the wording in the messages! Quote[/b] ]For example on the way to the rubber boat i didn't use the hospital but drove around all the towns straight to the boat I do not understand this bit - are you talking about Corazo? You managed to drive through Corazo and survived Quote[/b] ]take sniper point which is impossible since the base is on the highest point in the island You can actually do the assassination from the lighthouse on the cliffs. There are several ways to kill the colonel (RPGs for one) - did the guards not try to stop you when you "walked to where the chopper was taking off ". Quote[/b] ]When i got to the island pick up point i did call the radio with the character saying all i have to do is wait hmmmm... Version 1.06 was tweaked and the heli moved so it may work now - I'll take another look. Yes, you are supposed to call for the heli pick-up when you get to the island and the mission ends shortly after you are picked-up. Well, thanks again for taking the time and trouble to give us feedback on the mission - you uncovered several bugs for us to sort out - glad to hear that you enjoyed the mission - we did not really have any idea how this type of mission would be received and your views have helped alot.
