well... im sorry to say but i dont think you become a snipr in the single player try going to single missions or if that does work shoot a sniper and take his riffle =)... im a n00b to but hitting moving targets is also hard for me if they are far away move the crosshair a bit more in front and use your ironsite view by hitting "v" or keypad 0

& using the "+" & "-" keys to zoom further in & out while in scope mode(only on m21, not dragonov). It's also very helpful if you actually use the things(lines & pointy things) on the scope to help estimate where the target will be when the bullet hits. Some1 should write an article on this to help all the newbies, it would be very helpful.

................ or you could just go here & here biggrin.gif

Practice, practice practice....this is not like other FPS where you get to hit whatever you point at...this is millitary simulation...bullets go differently..more realistically.....

goto mission editor and set yourself some targets and start shooting....that's the best way for learning to shoot....

also do missions diligently

here's how you use scopes(roughly)

M21:

the horizontal line on top and bottom are supposed to be height of the enemy u r aiming at...it's roughly adjusted for 1.7meters. so when you see an enemy, adjust your scope to fit the height.... then it gives you the most likely chance of heating the target with the cross section in the center.

SVD Dragunov

at bottom left, there's a slanted line with number, 10, 8, 6, 4,2...these are distances guage...also under that, there's a horizontal line that says 1,7..what this means is that from that horizontal line, if you try to put your targets head to same height as slanted line, you'll get the distance.

once you get the distance, you can adjust your shooting elevation using echelons at center.each echelon is about 250meters distance...in other words, any target that is about 250m should use top echelon, and then another 250meter further away, use 2nd echelon and so on..

There are so many instruction manuals on net about dragunov, like Axle-online and so forth...look for it, and practice......

Many of the pages at Axle Online are dead when I last looked. I've had a copy of the Dragunov manual at The FAQ for ages!

I could never figure out how to use the Dragunov.

How do you get the distance by lining the targets head with one of the numbers : 10,8,6,4, or 2?

Let me get this straight, you line the enemies feet at the horizontal line, then you see where his head touches the curved line. Ok, suppose his head lines up under the number "4", what does that mean?

And what does the number "1.7" mean at the horizontal line?

you are on right target(no pun intended) tounge.gif

4 means 400 meters. multiply 100 to those numbers and you'll get distance

1,7 means (AFAIK) that scope is assuming 1.7m height for target.

1.7 meters?

Hmm, I guess this means that I cannot hit non human (things that are not 1.7 meters in height) with the dragonov?

Or it will be difficult to get the range on something that is not 1.7 meters in height?

But the “range finder†on the SVD Dragunov didnt show the correct distance did it… confused.gif

I remember a thread somewhere here discussion this….when a try it my self a don’t get the right distance.
