Strange thing

Recommended Posts

Hi all

A friend of mine recently bought the new OFP gold edition. He wanted (and still wants) to play online with me. But a very strange thing occures every time he tries to connect to our server.

He just cant get in.

I see user connecting, user connected. And a few secs later user disconnected.

We both have the same version (1.3) and played online before with v1.0

He is behind a LAN but that shouldnt give any problems I think. Yesterday he tried to connect to an empty server and then he got connected! But the weirdest thing was that when I connected to the same server. He got disconnected after 5 secs.

So conclusion so far:

He cant connect a server with players on it

He can connect an empty server...

Is anyone familiar with this problem or has seen the same problem? Plz reply

tnx guys

That's a known problem that will be fixed in V1.35 -- here is a news item from 3DActionPlanet with a workaround:

Si informed Ofp.org on some very useful information that may help out a lot of you guys having some Multiplayer problems, here word:

A problem has come to light between the 1.30 patch and the 1.30 'Gold' versions of Flashpoint. Namely that people with the former couldn't connect to hosts with the latter.

SOLUTION: hosts should MOVE the "voicerh.pbo" file from the "addons" directory to a temporary directory. This file is included in the Gold Edition/Gold Upgrade as part of the 'Red Hammer' campaign and is therefore not included in the separate 1.30 patch/upgrade. Hosts should now be able to let people with the 1.30 upgrade join their games.

If they wish to play the 'Red Hammer' campaign then they need to copy this file back into the addons directory. This bug will be resolved in the 1.35 upgrade.

We tested a bit more and it didnt work... My friend says the following:

Mr frag tnx for the info but the problem is a little more complicated, this is the mail i still want to send to [email protected], but i'll wait if this forum solves anything

* Brief description of your problem:

Whenever i connect to a multiplayer server through remote

connection (OFP multiplayer) or even with programs like Gamespy and All

seeing eye, the message ´wait for server´ stays on the screen for

several minutes while on the top left corner i see myself connecting.

The strange thing is that for a minute i am connected (the host of the

server sees me enter) en then i get a ´session lost´ and the main screen

appears. This happens most of the time. Sometimes i get in the readyroom

but when the host starts the game the same problem occurs.

With other games like Half life and Return to Castle Wolfenstein

there is no problem in the same hardware config.

* CPU type, motherboard, graphics card configuration

Amd athlon 1000, abit kt7a 1.0, creative 3d blaster (nvidia

Gforce 2 GTS)

* What version of OF are you using (which addons)

Original cd version 1.0 with the 1.20 ultimate

upgrade and then the 1.30 ultimate upgrade (on a clean Win98/ WinXP installation)

* In which mission are you experiencing problems

Multiplayer in general, but i can host a LAN game with AI

* Are you using HW T&L or not?

Somehow i cannot turn it on though it is supported by my videocard and drivers

*What operation system have you got? (Win9x, WinME, Win2000)

Tried it with Win9x and WinXP.

HELP!!

Vinqe

This is completely unrelated, but where is he trying to turn on HW T&L? It must be done from the OFP Preferences program...

Offcourse he can turn on T&L in the preferences tab. But that has nothing to do with the "cannot connect" issue.

We will contact BIS with this problem. Its frustrating enough to buy a game and find out that you cannot play it online with your friends sad.gif

anywayz thanks for the response Frag...

cheers
