the_bengine 0 Posted June 26, 2007 I've just upgraded to a 7900GTX and just thought i'd relive the highs and lows of the campaign with the new lovely graphics. Problem is i can't get past the mission with the sniper rifle on the water tower on the first map!! I'd played this missions about 4 or 5 times before and never once died. It'd always been like shooting fish in a barrel. Now i've installed the 7900GTX, i only have time to fire off a round or two before getting shot by a SLA troop with an AK47 from about 350 yards!!! Could it be a harder difficulty setting coz i've already completed the campaign? (the opening mission was no more difficult). Or could there be a difference in the game caused by the change in GPU? max power 21 Posted June 26, 2007 If you have selected veteran difficulty, that could be the difference. ArmA doesn't get suddenly harder based on whether or not you completed the campaign, I don't think. If your framerate was really low before, it's possible that that made a difference with the AI. It was said by Suma (one of the head developers) that framerate has a lot to do with AI performance.
the_bengine 0 Posted June 27, 2007 ah. cheers, that may well explain a few things. and just when i thought i was getting good...
smellyjelly 0 Posted June 27, 2007 It could have something to do with the increased view distance, but that goes both ways. If you could clearly see them, they could probably see you.
telejunky 0 Posted June 27, 2007 The Vd is it i think...This was the same in OFP: With standard vd neither you or the enemy ai did see you but i increased it to 2500m and 'bang' the enemy T-80 hit me...but the higher vd was pretty good against rpg soldiers because the cannot shoot that long way... the_bengine 0 Posted June 27, 2007 hmm, i'm not so sure that it's the view distance. I haven't really changed it that much with the upgrade.
