Can't play 3rd party missions

Recommended Posts

I just downloaded some missions that got good reviews, but both of them refuse to run because they fail to find something in the config.bin about some vehicle. One of them admitted to have used Gunslingers editor upgrade, the other said he'd used no addons. The missions were Prisoner Rescue, and Black Sunday. I had Satchells soundpack installed, but returned the original config.bin to it's directory and it still didn't work.

Anyone having similar problems due to addons or unofficial upgrades? I hope I don't have to reinstall the game to get the original config.bin to kick in..

Delete satchel soundpack, try to install v1.42 patch again or tell me where did u get those missions.

The problem must be in their missions or in your bin files. First, try to install v1.42 patch again and delete the soundpack.

Some mission makers may not realise that addons are actually used in their missions.

I was working on a mission, I placed an unofficial addon on the map, saved it, then I deleted that unofficial addon from the map, and saved it again. When I deleted that addon from my addons folder, I couldn't open the map I saved cos it said that the addon I deleted was required.

I looked at the sqm file, and at the top, under required addons, it listed the addon, that I clearly deleted from the mission, but it didn't delete it from the sqm file for some reason.

If you have the sqm file for the mission, the best way to see what addons are really required is to look at the mission.sqm file.

I've experienced this a lot, cos I'm a staff member over at opflashpoint.org, and half of the missions submitted don't list their required addons (either cos they just don't, or they don't realise that the sqm file request it, preventing the mission from working without the addon).

Plus with all these addons in the community, you can easily put the wrong unit in your mission (cos some are similar), and not realise this.

IF you got 'Black Sunday' from OFPEC's Command HQ, then it's a old outdated version that do require some addons (I too had the same problem). I talked with the author and he told me that there is a new updated version on his own site, that does'nt require any addons.

OFPEC just screwed up somewhere along, as the author sent them a new and updated version. But they never updated it.

Thanks guys. I suspected it was some addon that they didn't realize was in there. SpaceAlex, one doesn't need to reinstall anything if you revert from Satchells soundpack. Just flip between the config files, nothing else is affected. You shouldn't be so weary of it smile.gif Go ahead, try it out.. just make sure you backup your original config.bin. ..and perhaps your user dir and missions.. Good idea also to make a backup of the Flashpoint folder completely, unless you have the space, then you can just do a full Windows install backup. In fact, some people reported their soundcard physically blowing up, so remove that as well before you install that soundpack. biggrin.gif

"In fact, some people reported their soundcard physically blowing up, so remove that as well before you install that soundpack."

ROFL, that was a good one Konyak biggrin.gif

There are some issues with the soundpack, no question, but not enough to cause physical damage such as exploding Soundcards biggrin.gif.

BTW, as Konyak said, it´s always a good idea to back your things up before you install something new, doesn´t apply to Flashpoint only, but in general. Everytime i test a new Detonator driver i do a backup of Registry keys and check installation directories, so i can revert back easily if necessary.

I know what's affected. You understood me wrong. I was trying to say that you should try to delete satchel soundpack. If that would't work you would need to reinstall the patch. There's no connection between the patch and the soundpack. I though that there were some missing files in you original BIN.

Do you understand now ? confused.gif

And your soundcard can't "BLOW" up because of the soundpack. Everything is in software. I tried the soundpack days ago and it's still in my testing OFP. I'm still testing it.

And there's something else. I always have two Operation Flashpoints in my comp. One version is for testing patches and unoffical addons and one is for playing. smile.gif

I'm having fun, yes.
