NeZz_DK 1 Posted June 12, 2007 its a editor for the squad.xml files many teams are using to show tags and squad logos ingame. here is a link to the biki that explains the use of squad.xml Squad.xml link
M.Andersson(SWE) 4 Posted June 18, 2007 I know the use of XML and why... But how does your little prog work...??
NeZz_DK 1 Posted June 19, 2007 you type in the information, in the given fields, the Id can be found under you user profile ingame, and the nick should be the nick you are using, after you finished typing in all info for all squad members you save the file and upload it to somekind of webhosting, then you type in the url in you profile ingame, and you should see your tag ingame. the picture name is the name of the your image file you are using and it should be som kind og 2^x * 2^x resolution image, of either jpg or paa format, and you will have to upload the picture to the website aswell, as this is beta its as is, when the final version is done, I will bring a better guide, for the use of the program and how to bring it ingame. you could also try looking at the biki it gives a good understanding of how to use the xml, after you have created it with the program. toster 0 Posted June 19, 2007 Great, a Tool for ArmA. I have a errormessage, if i start the exe. Screen: http://www.bis-ingame.net/uploads/news/2007/06/squadeditor-error.jpg ( I cant english *g*) XP Home btw: The OFP Tools http://www.bis-ingame.net/downloa....ad.html work for arma. PS: If you have a Finalversion, can we host it? *g* PS2:
NeZz_DK 1 Posted June 19, 2007 I think you need to install .net 2.0, im working on the final version as we speek. and you can host it if you like or I could make i a desktop version off your online tool. ;-) I know you can use it for ofp too, but I never saw a good editor for the xml before. so I thought I would try to make one. I have added, Add, Edit and Delete buttons below the list of members and created a dialog where you can edit a single squad member if you like to use it that way instead. I have also created better tool tips. What I need now is a bit of polishing with the graphics and create a starters guide.

Guest RKSL-Rock Posted June 20, 2007 I I used the SquadEditor program to set it up.Then i copied the files to my webpage and to Dreamweaver. I made some changes in squad.xml via DW such as link to picture and so on.. I can open the page in IE but i cant see the picture. What am i doing wrong: http://www.twilightzound.smyr.net/XML/squad.xml PS: the img i wahnt to use is: [im]http://www.twilightzound.smyr.net/XML/andersson.jpg[/img] Thats because, the webpage uses a PNG file and not the PAA file. Â Save the file to PNG format and upload it and you will be fine.
M.Andersson(SWE) 4 Posted June 20, 2007 But that is the same as it is now isnt it?? If i save the file as .png it will remain .png?? But i will try when i get home from work tomorrow.. Now....R: GET BACK TO WORK
NeZz_DK 1 Posted June 20, 2007 Try to take a look at the xsl file where the image is defined, I tried to change the xsl to include the image defined in the xml. but that would give problems if you use .paa files. u have to use sqd_logo.png or change the file name in the xsl file.
M.Andersson(SWE) 4 Posted June 20, 2007 I had to remove the xsl file in order to view the xml in IE. I got an error message trying to open the XML in IE telling me there was an error in xsl file.

Now....R: GET BACK TO WORK Â Â Dear god! There is nothing wrong with the files. Â Ok here it comes "Idiots Guide": 1 - Click your link. 2 - Right click on the missing image tag. 3 - Click Properties 4 - Pay very close attention to the path and the file extension the page is expecting. 5 - Take a deep breathe, realsie that yor web browser will not know how to handle a PAA file. Â How will it display it? <Insert required time interval to making this stunning realisation> 6 - Suddenly spot the .PNG file extension. AHA! 7 - Open up your image in the desired image editing software and save a copy of the file in .PNG format. 8 - Upload the PNG image to your web server in the correct dir the page is looking for it in. 9 - Open your browser again and check your site. M.Andersson(SWE) 4 Posted June 20, 2007 Â Â You know rocko, the file i put in the folder IS .jpg. The img i show HERE is a DIRECT link to the img in my XML folder on the page...How do you explain that?? But sure, when i get home tomorrow i will try the changed .png file... Guest RKSL-Rock Posted June 20, 2007   You know rocko, the file i put in the folder IS .jpg. The img i show HERE is a DIRECT link to the img in my XML folder on the page...How do you explain that?? But sure, when i get home tomorrow i will try the changed .png file... I really cannot believe you don’t get this. The XML wants a file called sqd_logo.PNG file. You are trying to give it a file called sqd_logo.JPG Either way it will not affect the PAA file shown in game. If its not showing up in game its because you , most likely, haven't put your right "nick name" in.  it must be the same as the profile you use in ArmA.
NeZz_DK 1 Posted June 21, 2007 first off the address to the picture in the xml must be andersson.jpg and not XML/andersson.jpg second off you need to edit the xsl file so that sqd_logo.png is replaced with andersson.jpg, third off the squad nick "Andersson [=RECON=]" should just read =RECON= then your ingame nick will apear as "Andersson [=RECON=]" the squad nick is the short name for your squad and has nothing to do with your ingame nick name. I have tried using [] in the xml file and that resulted in the image not showing ingame, so dont use them. Fourth change the name of your ingame profile from "Andersson [=RECON=]" to Andersson or else your nick will apear as "Andersson [=RECON=][=RECON=]", remember to change your nick in the xml aswell. take a look at this squad.xml to get some inspiration. please try these things and tell me if it works :-) if it dosn't I can send a zip with the info from your xml corrected then all you need to do is upload it to your webhost.
