ManDay 0 Posted June 10, 2007 If you don't understand what I experienced just tell me and I'll get a screenshot later. But I don't think that I am the only person who suffers from that. When you are in a building sometimes the gamma just starts to run out of bounds. everythings gets tinted in a white/silver shiny somewhat. This kind of "software-HDR" (dont know the exact term) seems kind of buggy. Normally this is supposed to simulate the adaptation of the human iris - but since their is a certain limit to which the iris may expand there should be a limit in arma as well. I fear you guys at BIS did the mistake to calculate an ABSOLUT limit based upon the outside-lighting conditions instead of calculating a relative limit based upon the absolut lighting values - outside and within the building. So you change that. The upper limit of percentage of "adaptation" has to be absolute. the adaption itsself therefore will be relative to the real conditions: Lighting outside: 100klx => Adaptation (max +-30%) => target luminance: 20000lx => => 100klx*70% = 30klx => effective brightness: 70,000lx Lighting inside: 1klx => Adaptation (max +-30%) => target luminance: 20klx => => 1klx*130% = 1,300lx = effective brighness. The numbers are only good guess. Its even not a percentual scale applied there. Now you better check out wikipedia, ask some people who know what is the story there (biologie, physics) and you learned a lot I hope you can change that in later versions. ManDay 0 Posted June 13, 2007 0|35... once again a too technical issue to receive any comments on it?
Fu-ion 0 Posted June 13, 2007 I get exactly the same, viewed in 3rd person my uniform and backpack turn a silvery grey colour. Not bothered about it really, there's more important stuff to fix Edited to say: forget Wikipedia, its all so wrong, try Britannica instead
4 IN 1 0 Posted June 13, 2007 this can be fix by changing the HDR value of ArmA.cfg file from 8 to 16 or 32 in My Documents/ArmA folder, drawback are you no longer have sun flare, didnt brother me as it is too annoying
ManDay 0 Posted June 13, 2007 Well changig the bitsize of the HDR shouldnt be a solution. This is not an issue related to performance but rather a bug. It's just that BIS messed up the algorithm by accident - which actually could easyily be fixed as i said - but it's not something that would be fixed with increasing the bit depth. that will rather be some kind of work-arround than a fix. Chi 0 Posted June 13, 2007 I also get this. Also when using and zooming in with any of the scoped weapons. the post effect lighting effects go nuts. Its especially bad when i die and as I move into the next soldier, its nearly a white out until I'm in first person view. This didnt happen in 1.5 for me. I also found the brightness and gamma on default looked great in 1.5 but now the models ect are too dark and if i turn up gamma or brightness it makes the colours look washed out. It was fine the way it was so I cant understand why this was changed. ta Chi
