CzingerX 0 Posted May 31, 2007 Probaly not the place to post this but I'll try.(I cherish your opinions.) Â I got a new video card, a ATI X1950GT 512mb PCI Express. Â I installed it and then downloaded the CC drivers from ATI for that card for 32bit Windows Vista. Â While almost at the finish point a black screen came on and stayed on for 10 minutes. Â I shut off the power, re-booted and the drivers were installed. Â Everything works and run's fine. Â Something doesn't seem right to me though. Â I was wondering if anyone has an opinion this, cause I have a feeling it will happen again. Â Thanks. AMDX2 3800+ 1gig of RAM ATI X1950 GT 512mb. bravo 6 0 Posted May 31, 2007 make sure you have those 2 cables connected to your video card. It looks like you only connected 1 cable. If you didn't connect the other, you must.
CzingerX 0 Posted May 31, 2007 This was my first time with a PCI-Express installlation. Which exactly were you refering too? Only ones I hooked up where the Power supply to the card and the hard drive. Plus an adapter to my monitor I had to put on the one back input. (There's 2) Maybe for high definition monitors. I don't know.
bravo 6 0 Posted May 31, 2007 Thought you had this image look at those 2 white on the right side, but now i guess you dont have.
CzingerX 0 Posted May 31, 2007 Yes, I have 2 of those. Â That's exactly the card I have. Â Sorry the instructions with the card tell me nothing like this. Â I have a adapter on one so my monitor plug would fit in. (Only have one monitor hooked up.) Â Was I somehow suppose to interconnect the two?
Peav 0 Posted May 31, 2007 Hi there, If everything seems fine it most probably is. The common problems with the 1950 series of cards is power related. As its PCI-E he will only have one 6 pin connection to make, but you have to make sure that if you used a 4-pin to 6 pin adaptor you connected both 4 pin connections to the power supply. If you just use a standard 6pin from the psu then you will have no issues. The black screen problem you suffered was probably just a Vista quirk. What may have happened is vista tried to load the driver when it was installed but couldnt do it so the screen stayed blank.

The DVi ports can be used with a dvi - vga connection and you only need one connected.
bravo 6 0 Posted May 31, 2007 in the manual they are not clear about this subject. At least on my manual they were not. Those 2 white cables must be connected. One must be connected directly from the PowerSuply the other can be connected with also an HD But both must be pluged in. You need both on the right connected! edit: i had the same problem you have. The game started and then i got a black screen. So i had to reboot pc. When i connected those 2 cables the game started and worked, no more black screens. I think he is refering to the DVI connections bravo6. Chances are if its PCI-E it will not have 4pin Molex connections like the sapphire x1950pro agp does. ( wth they decided to put 2 on when most people have pci-e capable psus is another issue. ) << I have one and thats the one thing that annoyed me.
