I agree....I think Bridge Commander looks pretty neat...as long its as they say it will be....but I'm also afraid there are so many ways to make this game suck...

And I hate the not rotating the camera thing....SFC One and Two do the same thing....

Star Trek you mean?

The one with the nintendo lookin' graphics? Ugh that sucked....there were NO good ST games until Starfleet Command came out....that is a good game......

Course I guess they can't deal with the General War, since we ain't meet the Tholians, Hydrans, Gorn, Kzinti, or Lyrans yet....but thats suppose to be a little ways away anyway...<span id='postcolor'>

What is the "General War"? And what do the Tholians and Gorn have to do with that? The Tholians and Gord were discovered by Kirk, 100 years later!!!<span id='postcolor'>

Actually no. If you watch those shows again its made clear that Kirk is NOT the first one to meet either of them.

The "General War" was a big war, partly started by the Fed-Rom conflict, in which everyone was basically fighting everyone.

Tholians were pretty much neutral...they blew anyone up that came near them, then they finally joined on the Fed side.

Hydrans were with the Feds, as were the Lyrans. Lyrans almost got wiped out (genocide style) by the Klingons and the Kzinti.

Romulans and Klingons were allies in this war. Gorn were on Fed side.

It basically decimated every culture and empire....Romulans the worst.

This also is referenced by Kirk a few times when close to fighting the Klingons in a few episodes....usually like "Surely they won't risk another General War." *with Kirk voice*<span id='postcolor'>

do u have any online sources on that? becos as far as i remember, the klingons and romulans didnt become allies until kirk's period. i remember this episode where kirk is near - or in - the romulan neutral zone and sees a klingon d-7 cruiser and goes like "a klingon?" shortly before a romulan appears on the viewscreen and proclaims the new alliance or whatever....having said that, the german translation might have messed things up! and these races, like Kzinti, who are they? have we seen them in the series? maybe that general war was in the early 23rd century?

General War was just before Kirk I believe..maybe 75-100 years....

As for the other races they are races sanctioned by Roddenberry (thus canon) as is the General War, which is mostly dealt with if you play Starfleet Battles.

Most of the races are never seen in any of the episodes...not sure why other than budget or too many races or what have you, though you do see SOME races that look AWFUL close to what these races are suppose to look like.

I will try to find some sources and link them here:

Yes. It sure did suck....that was back in 1993 if I remember correctly.

Did a search for "star trek general war"....

Unfortunately I got just as much stuff NOT relating to it as I did....

What I could piece together was there are 2 General Wars...one before and one after the TV series....the second one being the worse (the one I was talking of).

The General War was something that was across between TV and ST game canon....both were okayed by Rodenberry but there are stardate inconsistencies in the between the show and the General war history....the first of a long series of continuity problems....

Ummm the damn romulans didn't become allies tell DS9......but shit klingon's and romulans allies?....yeah I guess they are "now" but it's a very un easy alliance.....

Try bridge commander though....it's pretty good....it's got a nice damage system also...I had a guy eating away at the back of my ship...the hole just kept getting bigger with every shot...

What do you mean the way battles work?....the best thing to do is go to red alert then go to your tactical officer choose a target and click on destroy...then he will do it all for you...

yeah i know, but its all a bit too easy and out of your control. Its just, red alert (not even sheilds up), target the closest ship, let your officer go the targets, and then its up to the way the two a.i's fight between eachother.

Well you can always go to the outside view and use manual fire to do everything yourself.....

Fave star wars game. RS2 on Nintendo Gamecube. No other star wars game comes close to it's graphics biggrin.gif

It's top. Star Treck. Well l like it a series because there aren't much better things to show in Cyprus tounge.gif

Star Wars rules biggrin.gif

I agree with the statement that they always have to figure a way to get out of a wormhole, other tech alike situations and they rarely fight. Also the spacecraft fights are boring with each graft having a huge shield that gets disabled till the last minute. BORING but better than most things on tv here tounge.gif
