Retexture Addon and make a standalone version

Recommended Posts

Hi guys.

First of all I have little to none modelling experience. Me and my mate we just got ambitions of our own small mod.

Therefore we just need some special buildings. Because I haven't got much knowledge to create them I thought of retexturing existing ones. I opened an existing pbo, loaded the pac-textures and change them with my graphics program. They even work in OFP but I have still some small problems.

1) Where can I see which model uses which textures?

2) How can I write a new config for the new single p3d file with the textures?

Thanks in advance

you can use PAAtool (ofp.info dl link), or you can open the model in buldozer.

you need to use notepad or you can copy and paste an existing one, and change only the name of the addon, the path to the model etc. but you need to have a separate folder for the new textures, so if your model is a mlod file, you can use txpathswap (ofp.info), to change the textures path. smile_o.gif

The PAATool can't open the p3d files. I think it can only convert texture files.

Bulldozer seems to open the file but then there is an error: "Unable to load file. Load eror." hmm? why doesn't it open the model file?!

TxtPathSwap can only open SOME of the p3d files.

I am trying to open the addon files of the Starlight City Addon by Lenny.(Included in the Airwolf Mod)

it's immeuble.pbo and immeuble2.pbo.

Please help.

oh, sorry i meant odol explorer not paatool banghead.gif

for: "Unable to load file. Load eror." open the model in odol explorer, save it as mlod, then open it in oxygen, and save it.

[btw odol explorer can create errors on the selections of the model, you need to check the model.]

ok, when the model is saved in oxygen, you can now use TxtPathSwap smile_o.gif

With textpathswap you can see wich textures are needed for a p3d and you can change the path (needfull for creating a new pbo with existing p3ds).

The easiest way to make the config is to change the existing one.

Please remember to ask the autor of the original addon for permission to change his/her work. If you need some help with that, pm me. I have some expirience with making "new" addons from existing ones.

Hi guys,

I'm trying to make new addon characters with the old models. So I want to take the original p3d and rename some of the textures in it so it uses my new textures and then save it as a new p3d.

I'm stuck at opening the p3d with txtpathswap. Like you guys said, it doesn't work with some files. I get an "Out of Memory" error. I don't have oxygen. Is there any way to do this or do I have to wait for a new version of txtpathswap?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
