CAGE RATTLER 0 Posted May 15, 2007 Unable to authenticate original disc within time limit I just bought the US retail verion and installed the game and it ran fine but when i shut it down it will not restart and i keep getting this same error. When i hit retry i then get an error saying im trying to run a back up copy .... which im not. Ive tried to find new drivers for my DVD player (Cyberdrive DM166D) but havent had any luck. This seems it may be a hardware issue but just not sure since i have no problems with other games using it. Any thoughts or suggestions on solving this problem?? By the way i did do a search and saw the other securom issues mentioned but mine seems different.
Junker 0 Posted May 15, 2007 i have this problem with other games, It seems that some DVD drives dont like certain discs, The way around this is to: a/ restart windows and try it b/ uninstall DVD rom - reinstall and try again c/ buy an external DVD rom (This is what fixed my problem) A and B will have to be done everytime you want to play the game

BraTTy 0 Posted May 16, 2007 I've had games that I pop the cd/dvd out and back in and run the game from the autostart menu or start it during the seektime from freshly putting the disc in Your saying your drive don't open now? Try using eject by right click drive in explorer and pick eject edit: oh and is your region set for your dvd drive?

CAGE RATTLER 0 Posted May 16, 2007 Just wanted to update this.......... I had forgotten to update my mobo drivers which is also the onboard sound and that took care of the problem. Im up and running now but definitely going to need to upgrade this PC to get better performance. on a side note ...... the old DVD rom still wont go through securom but the newer one runs it fine. Mr_Tea 0 Posted May 16, 2007 A firmware update could possibly help. No guaranty.
