question on civilians

Recommended Posts

hey guys, tried finding a resonable search, but its all comming up for "combatant" type civiies...not what i want.

in part of my mission, im getting an informed "local" to mull about doing regular activies, then scurry off to another town, if/ when he sees his town being invaded by OPFOR. problem is , if i synch ANYTHING of OPFOR waypoints to this little guy to hop in car, and head to next town..he immidiately drops to his stomach, and buries his head in sand like an ostrich. no matter the waypoint issue, or behavior. BUT during testing, if i link a BLUFOR waypoint and synch to his waypoints, he does waypoints accordingly per "synch".

(actually i just tried making a civvy walk past an OPFOR on his own.. with OPFOR standing there...no synching, no nothing.. he just lays down the moment he sees the OPFOR)

does the red army scare them that much, to hide at the point of seeing the "enemy troops".. sad_o.gif how do i get the civvy to grow a pair, get in the damn car and inform the BLUFOR, like the little tattle tale he should be!

Group him to a OPFOR unit and set the probability of presence of the OPFOR unit to 0 in the unit setup screen.

Set his behaviour to Careless, that should make him ignore any threat. And put 'this setunitpos "up"' in his init field to keep him on his feet. That worked for me in OFP when I had a mission in which a town was attacked and the civvies were scripted to run away into the hills - had to set them to careless or they would just sit and cower.

If he's grouped to an OPFOR unit the BLUFOR people will shoot him. crazy_o.gif Could always set him as a captive to avoid that if the other thing doesn't work (put 'this setcaptive true' in his init field).

Doesn´t work in Arma because of the different civillian FSM file.

This has been reported at the bugtracker btw so I hope they will soon fix this cause now it looks like the OPFOR are bad and the BLUEFOR are good.

Just tested it, and yes there's definately a discrepancy. Thought it was just the civilian side being set the same as the Guerrilla side in terms of whether they're friendly to the East/West/Everyone/Nobody. For the most part that is actually true - if the Guerrilla side is set as friendly to East then the civilians won't go prone whenver they see an East soldier. They do go prone when they're friendly to the West and an East soldier appears. So far that's normal but if the Guerrilla side is set as friendly to East and a BLUFOR troop arrives, the civilians don't cower in fear as they should do. So yeh, it seems that they're hard coded to be more scared of the OPFOR than they are of BLUFOR, which is odd.

I have found a workaround though - you need to set all the OPFOR units in his presence as captives. He'll ignore them then, and obviously you have to uncaptive them after he's gone.
