Island Hopping 1.0 beta - My first mission

Recommended Posts

Hi all..

Download me here

(Hope its the right one..)

This is my first mission.. Mainly to teach me the mission editor..

Island Hopping 1.0 Beta!

I really should have got off my lazy behind to make one sooner as I have been playing OFP for years. Too busy playing? Ah well..

Details below..

Quote[/b] ]OVERVIEW:

---------

Mission Name: Island hopping 1.0 Beta

Game mode: COOP 1-14 Players (Preferably as few AI as possible, as they suck)

Addon's required: None at present

Respawn: yes.. to AI players in your own team.

You have been tasked to lead a squad to clear out two islands to the NorthWest of Sahrani. SLA forces on these islands are making the airspace a no-go area for our choppers - not to mention our patrol boats.

An assault squad and small recon squad has been selected and are in position near these islands..

Good luck!

Features:

- Good old infantry mission. I greatly miss a lot of the better COOP missions for OFP, so attempted to make my own (albeit my first mission)

- Variable Minefield (should I have told you that?) ;-)

- Boat insertion with both teams.

DETAILS:

--------

Difficulty: Difficult - Its in Beta so need feedback...

Supports SP: MP only (SP is a bit rough round the edges, due to the crappy AI)

Cadet/Veteran mode variation: None.. Play it in Vet' mode, ya wuss!! ;-)

Island/towns: Islands to NW Sahrani

Core game style: Infantry sea attack at dawn.. Just enough time for the recon squad to get in position before daylight.

Duration: No idea.. An hour or so

Weather/Time: Clear, 4.20am

FILE DETAILS:

-------------

Mission created by: #Cakes

Mission Version: 1.0 Beta

Release Date: 4/5/2007

Intro/Outro: Basic 15 sec Intro.. Not much of an outro..

Briefings: Full briefing, notes & objectives

Created for Arma version: 1.05+

Testing: tested on dedicated server with 2 players.

Size: 60kb

SCENARIO:

---------

Detailed scenario description/objectives:

- Stage 1: Make a beach landing and capture the town of Masbete.

- Stage 2: Capture some armour from a nearby base.

Story/background: ...

INSTALLATION:

-------------

Standard:

- For Multi Player, copy the pbo file(s) to .\ArmA\MPMissions folder.

ISSUES:

-------

- Untested in any great numbers of human players.. May be some bugs.. Hey its my first mission! smile_o.gif

FUTURE PLANS:

-------------

- Tweak AI

- Outro

- Better Intro

- More weapon choices

CREDITS & THANKS:

-----------------

- BIS/BIA for their great simulators.

- The OFPEC and BI forums for teaching me how to do some basic scripts

Anyway.. Hope you like it. Feedback appreciated. biggrin_o.gif

Its best played with as few AI is possible (ie. At least 4 human players) - as AI dont do what you tell them near water!

Cheers,

#Cakes

I'm playing it in SP and really like the layout although I ran across the annoying AI in water thing.

It really is good fun and I'm going to see if I can try it with some friends in coop. You did a lot of things really well.

One suggestion though is that there is a tent on the first island that one of my men got stuck in, probably because it doesn't sit flat on the terrain. Maybe moving it a bit to a flatter spot would be a good idea.

Nice work though!

Thanks for the reply and feedback.. Appreciated! biggrin_o.gif

Yeah, I had that problem with the ai moving around and standing in the tent after the cutscene was played - I thought I had nailed it as all the AI got onto the boat.. Ill bear it in mind for 1.1 (though there aren't many flat areas on that island) smile_o.gif

As you've noted, this isnt really a single player mission due to the terrible AI - especially around water - when you get a load of people playing, it should be "Much" better! 5 Players and over should be great! smile_o.gif

I'll try to get a server up tonight if I can (now i've got some time).
