satexas69 0 Posted April 4, 2007 The new AI in ArmA is funky. I have a map where I have tons of groups of shika's. I do NOT want them to wander (move around any distance outside their immediate area) - and the command: "this disableAI "move"; ... seems to have NO effect on a OPFOR manned shilka. Sure, I could REMOVE the gas, but then if I do that, heli's and weapons are unable to "lock" on the target (as addressed in ANOTHER thread). So, I need to give them gas and either: 1. Find a way to make them STAY PUT no matter what OR 2. What's the best waypoint to keep them from moving? I've tried "HOLD" and "GUARD" and some others... frustrating... -)rStrangelove 0 Posted April 4, 2007 I'd try to let the driver get out and wait near the shilka in case he's needed later. Â Driver might need his own group so his leader doesnt tell him to get back into the vehicle though.
satexas69 0 Posted April 4, 2007 Edit Update: Removing the driver OR spawning an empty shilka and putting JUST a gunner inside, wont' do. Why? Because there MUST be a driver in the unit, and the unit having gas before it will LOCK in terms of missles (Hellifires, etc). And that LOCK is so important. So, I either need a bonafide command to make the Shilka drive just "stay put" and never move, or some creative waypoint to make that happen. Ideas?

Big Dawg KS 6 Posted April 4, 2007 How is it any different from OFP? Well it's not... First it's not that they need to have fuel or a driver, it's that the engine needs to be running. If the engine is running then it's able to move, in fact the AI will only leave the engine running when the vehicle is moving. Luckily with tracked vehicles movement also refers to turning (in place), and AI just happens to do that when engaging. If you put a bunch of objects around them so all they can do is turn (and not move anywhere else) you might be able to do what you want.
