=jps=sgtrock 4 Posted April 1, 2007 I don't have a clue what I'm doing wrong. I'm driving one of the two HMMWVs with the TOWs to avoid the typical drunken driving of the AIs. I order my entire squad to go to Danger, Engage At Will, and Open Fire. This gets the driver of the other HMMWV to turn off his lights, so things look copacetic. I then let the two HMMWVs with the Mah Dueces take out all of the infantry between me and the third waypoint. My team, the two M2 HMMWVs, and the two infantry squads take up position on or near the hill overlooking the switchback coming up from the south. OK, so we're in position and waiting for the three BMPs. This is when the frustration starts. I can't get the AI TOW gunners to fire! I've tried just waiting. Nada. Both will sit there until we're toast. I've tried I ordering both HMMWVs to target one. They'll target, all right, but they won't open fire! Do I really have to order both HMMWVs to fire before anything happens? The delay in the command structure will get us all killed. Is there anything else I can do? -CS-SOBR-1st-I-R- 0 Posted April 2, 2007 Hmmm... first of all welcome to ArmA. This simply is how the game is ... I'm not saying live with it, but rather uninstall it. If you dont want to do so ... advise your AI to "shoot!" or "attack!" or "engage!". (cant remember what it was) After your AI has targeted the BMP, hit his number e.g. 2 and then the command combination 3-3 or 3-4 which will FORCE him to fire. This brutal way, you can even designate them to target friendly (even yourself) and actually really force them to pull the trigger. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

=jps=sgtrock 4 Posted April 2, 2007 I am somewhat new to ArmA. I've only had the game since February and I really haven't spent all that much time playing. I've had far too much fun mucking about with the editor. However, I'm not new to BI games. I played through the entire OpFlash campaign with the original UK CD before the first patch came out. I re-bought the OpFlash GOTY edition last summer when I first heard about ArmA coming out just so I could re-familiarize myself with the controls prior to the release of this game. I don't recall this kind of trouble getting any squad member, vehicle mounted or not, to fire before. However, I will stipulate that I just might be doing something wrong, or that there might be a bug. Is there any authoritative source out there who might be able to fill in a confused soul? Ligur 0 Posted April 6, 2007 Like this: leave your TOW hummers behind that... "hill" thingy the enemy armor will climb up (they, the BMPS, are using the semi zig-zag road). Place them (hummers) on a counter slope position; they should see the BMPS for about 4 seconds at most, just as they crest the hill, and then fire. Dance to a position where you can see the BMPs with your NV goggles or somehting. Use the command interface to give your hummers a target before they are even visible for them, i.e. when the BMPs are climbing up your guys already have targeted them and are ready to shoot before they are even visible: when they come up the hill and within LOS of your TOW hummers the hummers WILL launch a TOW. Or twom or three. Bang bang bang. Notice your squad mates are very, very low level on skill in this mission, so you have to practically command them each time you want them to do something even close to properly, I tried once without using the command interface all the time and they operated very poorly.
