Arkon2 0 Posted March 29, 2007 Hi, Think I done this before with Flashpoint somehow... My mission is too large (144 units/groups) and i need to split it into 2 parts carrying over the variables to part two. The map is the key, as its a north south split with the south featuring in part one and the north in part two. Some Waypoints/Triggers will be needed for both parts as will some units/groups but most of the south part will be deleted after part one. Perhaps this is how a campaign is done but i do not know. Any help appreciated. Arkon
Big Dawg KS 6 Posted March 29, 2007 Well I can see 144 units being a lot in OFP, but it's not really that big for ArmA. Supposedly many people have been able to play with hundreds of units with no FPS drop.
Arkon2 0 Posted March 29, 2007 Hi KyleSarnik, Yus, but FPS is not my problem: I need more than 140 so I have to delete some to make way for some more, therefore i need two maps to make it work etc... Thanks for your comment Arkon2
HulkingUnicorn 0 Posted March 30, 2007 You mean you can't have more groups right? If it doesn't mess up your mission, you can try to put more units in each group. I have seen around 70 soldiers in 1 group once (not recommended for player groups, you'll get nuts listening to what happens after "all, report status" Also, the numbers of orders queued may prevent you from leading efficiently. I don't know if having huge groups slows down ai units or not though. Anyway, 70 * 144 = 10 080... Try to experiment with differently sized groups, and you may find a working solution
Arkon2 0 Posted March 30, 2007 Hi HulkingUnicorn (nice name ) I need units (loads) for my mission to work - it's a single player mission - very long using all of the Sahrani map - the island is ideal for splitting into 2 with a north/south split - I think it mabye can be done like a campaign is but I'm not sure how campaign's are put together. Thanks for your help Arkon
bana 0 Posted March 30, 2007 If you are thinking of creating two missions and linking then into a campaign, this BIKI entry should help Campaign Description.ext

louis 0 Posted March 31, 2007 Has anyone done a campaign yet. It would be good to have an update on anything that is different to OFP. Any tips / help from those that may have created their own would be helpful
HulkingUnicorn 0 Posted April 4, 2007 I like it too Arkon Quote[/b] ]I need units (loads) for my mission to work - it's a single player mission - very long using all of the Sahrani map - the island is ideal for splitting into 2 with a north/south split - I think it mabye can be done like a campaign is but I'm not sure how campaign's are put together. How many different scripts and variables and stuff do you want to pass info over? If the group thing is the problem, you could try to spawn units/group on the map when other groups are destroyed? It would probably make things alot easier for you I don't have any experience with campaigns myself, so that's all I can suggest for now...
