walker 0 Posted March 27, 2007 Hi nekodani Unusual problem. ArmA for most people is an order of magnitude better in MP than OFP. It could theoreticaly be some other program causing this. Check firewall virus checker and anti ad-ware/malware tools are up to date. Do a scan to make sure you are not being used as a zombie bot. To test whether some legal program is running in a bandwidth hungry way; play MP ArmA in windows mode and use a network monitor tool such as Netlimiter to make sure there is nothing else running and using up masses of bandwidth. Things to watch out for are peer to peer super-node modes in the likes of skype and files share programs. Other possible problems are hardware and ISP related. Most likely it is either your ping/bandwidth or bad graphic settings on the server. Try a simple CTF such as hexenkessel to confirm your problem and tell us your ping and bandwidth "P" key to view. Half the lag on MP at the moment is badly tuned view distances. I occasionally have this on my laptop when idiot Admins or mission makers set the view distance and texture quality to what their ubermachine can cope with. If that is the case just try another server. Default view distance is 1200 and low settings. For pilot and sniper roles you can set view distances to further individually for them either in mission by script or by giving them the option. Kind regards walker
nekodani 0 Posted March 28, 2007 Is strange... I shutting down all procces except ARMA. But in one player mode, is playeable, but in multiplayer game (DEATHMATCH IN PARAISO), the frame rate going down... Lag 45, is good lag, but that is very strange... max power 21 Posted March 28, 2007 Thisi s really weird. Even with huge connection problems and every character on the server spazzing out, with vehicles that look burned up driving around, no sound effect cues, and teleportations and stuff, the frame rate for me is unaffected. Very curious problem. What view distance are you running it at? View distance in MP is governed by teh server. If you have a view distance set at like 500 or something, and most servers run at 1.5 or 2, I can see why your MP degenerates in a slide show... sort of. View Distance doesn't really affect the frame rate that much, at least on my machine.
HotShot 0 Posted March 28, 2007 Terrain detail? Every server seems to have grass on which screws me over as it is off for me in SP, so get about half the FPS in MP as SP. VD gives a performance hit but not by quite so much.
