MeNeZ 0 Posted March 19, 2007 Hi, I dont know if this has happend to anyone else but this is now the second time. I woke up in the morning, clicked on the Arma icon and it does that little loading screen (blocks counting up) and then it dies and i get that windows wants to email the error to microsoft report. Although I dont actually get an error... Last time I had to re-install. )Big pain because I have the downloaded Chec version and all the patches take ages.., Just want to know if theres anything else I can do to fix it without re-installing?? I'd hate for this to keep happening. I have an AMD 3800+, 2GB RAM, 7600GS, WinXP. Upgraded to lates patch, been running smooth for a couple days with no problems. Then all of a sudden...cant start anymore. Thanks

Bad Pilot 0 Posted March 19, 2007 Did you change something in XP setup or game setup? Did you install something else? Did you uninstall something else? Did you patch something else? Did you fill your hard-disc with porn? One thing this game has made me do is System Restore! Never used it before; now I use it all the time because I don't want to break ArmA. -Fenix out. Bad Pilot 0 Posted March 19, 2007 It wasn't clear but I meant to say have you patched XP since it was working? Windows Update can break your Windows if one of the updates doesn't interact properly with your setup.
Pain-less 0 Posted March 20, 2007 I haven't been able to get Armed Assault to startup since it was delivered over the weekend. The installation went good and patched OK also. I have been doing some research on Securom 7. I understand Securom installs a little program that needs to run called UAService7.exe, and it runs in the background when Windows starts. I'm at work at the moment but I don't recall ever seeing that process running on my machine. Which might be the reason why ArmA won't start. Others who can't get ArmA to start might want to check and see if UAService7.exe is running. I may at one time blocked this service from running, I really don't know. But I'll get to the root of the problem.
Pain-less 0 Posted March 21, 2007 Nope. I can't get it to run at all. Does anyone know where the Securom files or drivers are stored? I can't find them, and it doesn't look like ArmA installs them. Looking into the ArmA un-install log, shows nothing about them. So where are they? Maybe that's why ArmA won't even start up? I can see the ArmA process start in Task Manager but quickly exit. I don't get it.

desertfox 2 Posted March 22, 2007 Pain-Less I understand you have a security software that, at some point asked you if you want to allow Securom, and you denied it to run, and now you think it might be blocked ? A little bit more info might help. What security software have you got installed. What OS do you run, what is the problem at all, what about your hardware specs ? And why do you post a completely different problem into someone elses thread .. I don't really care but it got me confused.

desertfox 2 Posted March 22, 2007 McShaka. Make a new post for your problem and include your hardware / software specs. No one is able to help you this way. Your decision.

I thought I might have blocked it but it turns out I didn't. So pretty much I was in the same boat as all the others, I clicked on the icon and nothing happened. BUT... I did find a way to get it running last night. If I open the folder where the arma.exe is located, right-click on arma.exe and select "Run as" and select run as administrator and supply the administrators password then I see my pointer turn into the Securom spinner and within seconds the game starts. I played for several hours last night without any troubles. I even exited a few times just to make sure I can get it going again and all is good.
