LastRifleRound 0 Posted March 18, 2007 I was wondering if anyone had completed one of the two first side missions in campaign mode, the AT Sabotuer one. I usually flank left of the mountains, kill the one guard, rocket the ZSU there. After that, I can't really get anywhere without getting gunned down. There are too many guys and the cover of night does not help at all. Especially since the search light goes through the hills. How has anyone else completed this succesfully? I also noticed there are 4 vehicles to destroy (2 BMP-2s, 2 ZSU-23s) and you are equipped w/3 M136 shots and 1 satchel. Do they really expect me to rocket attack 3 vehicles and satchel the last vehicle, giving my position to 20 defenders each time? Seems like there's a trick to this mission I am missing. Seems like there's a trick to this mission I am missing. please use the search function next time, this mission has been discussed in detail already - as have most missions. long story short: the easiest way is to complete objective 2 first (acquire the docs), steal the chopper, and neutralize objective 1 with it. then escape with the boat. mbv 0 Posted March 18, 2007 If you run out of ammo head back to the boat where you started to reload. That also makes a few enemy follow you onto the hill where a lot of them stay, or some even head over to your boat to investigate and get wasted by the boats MG. By the time you have reloaded and headed back to the vehicles along the coast most of the enemy will be searching for you elsewhere and it is a lot easier to finish the job. Or just grab the copter and rocket the hell out of the place
sander 14 Posted March 19, 2007 Hi, It is possible to complete the main task with just the weaponry available at the start of the mission. You have to proceed towards the camp, killing the lone sentry that guards the approach to the northern Shilka, then you wait until the patrolling soldiers are walking away from the Shilka and you crawl forward to plant the satchel charge. Once you have done so, crawl back and make a wide detour to the high rise buildings overlooking the base. There you climb up the stairs and, after saving the game at that point, blow the satchel charge and proceed to fire off the three AT4's at your disposal to take out the remaining three vehicles. This might take several tries before you manage to line up the weapon correctly for the distance (hence the savegame). If you go prone immediately after firing a missile, chances are that the AI at the camp will not detect your position and fire at you. It seems that at any rate, given the distance between the high rise building and the camp, only machinegunners are likely to fire their weapon towards you. It is advisable to take care that the firing of the AT4 is timed to avoid the patrolling Kamov, as due to the config threat settings, AT soldiers are more likely to be engaged by helicopters than riflemen. Once you have destroyed the armour, climb down the stairs and mind any infantry patrolling near the high rise building. Proceed to make your way back to the boat, taking care not to be spotted by the infantry reinforcements that have taken up position in front of the barbed wire where you killed off the lone sentry. You can then rearm and try to steal the documents and helicopter or decide to call it a day after completing just the main assigment. Regards, Sander
