Eddie Haskel 0 Posted March 15, 2007 I'm trying to get certain buildings to be in disrepair, burning, etc. I know the setdammage and setdamage I also know the inflame true command as well Examples: object397338 inflame true object397338 setdamage 1 NONE of these are damaging the buildings, producing smoke, or fire.... I did this back in OFP, but for the life of me, can't remember HOW I did it! I also looked around the forum, but nothing popped up either.... Thanks in advance! Balschoiw 0 Posted March 15, 2007 I always used a dropped fire-effect for those in OFP as it looked more realistic when fire was coming out of windows. I setposed the fire sources. ColonelSandersLite 0 Posted March 15, 2007 I'm putting something together for SpecialEd to do just this. I'll post if here when it's done. It won't be to the same degree of polish as the rest of my work, since I'm pretty time impared ATM, but it should provide you and anyone else with a base for doing this. Currently: 1: Building is dammaged. 2: Building catches fire. 3: After a set time, the building collapses 4: The rubble continues to burn for a while longer. Probably have a version cleaned up enough to release tomorrow. Also, you can't use an objectID quite like that anymore in arma (unless it's been changed in a patch since I've been away). You have to use the nearestObject family of commands. There's plenty of threads around on that subject I'm sure, so I'll not dredge up the details. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Guest Posted March 16, 2007 Ive seen the Demo ColonelSandersLite produced just a while ago for this building burn/collapse app, although in its unfinished stage yet, it is pretty darn cool, looks really good. Smoke effect is considerable as well, take a few buildings in a town/city and do this, and Ive seen my first glimpse of an Arma version of Ecp/Ffur town under siege And that aside, the part where the building will collapse after some time is a very nice touch. Eddie Haskel 0 Posted March 16, 2007 ObjectID to setdamage works, I have a container that crumbles now, just cant get it to burn! lol Would love to have the effects ColonelSandersLite is working on, I am working on sme Zombie missions, where certain buildings are burning or blowing up (ovens left on, fireplace unattended, etc.) Keep in mind, not ALL objects in Arma are destroyable, I got lucky on my 3rd try, and found the container would be destroyed, the 2 buildings I tried before not though.... ColonelSandersLite 0 Posted March 16, 2007 It's now as finished as I have time to make it just now. It's probably more than good enough for your average joe putting together a quick mission. The more in depth mission designer will likely want to tweak it to their needs though. What I really hope is that people will use it as the groundwork to do something better, or at least add to it. It could still use a few things I'm sure. Since I feel that a script release warrants it's own thread, I started one just for it.
