Monkwarrior 0 Posted March 6, 2007 Servers can be rented. Hosting one yourself (a so called listen server) mostly depends on your connection (your upload bandwidht). If your clan has more then 5 members and you want to play bigger games: rent one. Monk.
kaner 0 Posted March 6, 2007 ok thanks monk do u have any links where i can go to rent one cus ive googled but cant find any
DieAngel 0 Posted March 6, 2007 personally i don't know offhand where to rent an ArmA server, tho there is plenty of places where you can rent servers on the net, keep in mind if it isn't a game server rental you will most likely have to do the installation of the server by hand. Maximus_G 0 Posted March 6, 2007 Do i have to buy a separate game copy to run the server? Are there any built-in means of remote game-server management? And mission management? (for example, reserving administrator rights) What bandwidth should be enough for a 16-slot game? Maybe there's some "Arma server FAQ" somewhere?
d3dsh33p 0 Posted March 7, 2007 no no... lame as hell 10 mg should be fine
Maximus_G 0 Posted March 7, 2007 OK i've found some commands here http://community.bistudio.com/wiki....ommands Where's the admin password stored? What's about Starforce protection - how should i make the game not to require the disk? And if the server is a public machine - how secure is the storage of my personal CD-KEY? (i mean i should enter it during installation process, so it will be there) 10 mg should be fine Are we still talking about "bytes" here?
Federal 0 Posted March 7, 2007 the admin password is stored in your server's config.cfg it is the config file you need to create, th location may be ( C:\Prgram files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA\server.cfg ) create a short cut to your arma_server.exe that is in your \Arma dircetory target line, put the following in the target line: "directory list to Arma\arma_server.exe" -config=server.cfg one of the lines you must must put in your server.cfg is passwordAdmin = "xyzxyz"; Password to protect admin access -Replace xyzxyz with your admin passowrd to login as an admin press / and type #login xyzxyz hope that helps. Maximus_G 0 Posted March 7, 2007 Thank you! Is there any documentation on the subject?
d3dsh33p 0 Posted March 7, 2007 nope its not that complicated anymore just upload your entire arma folder right into the server, 1.05 already has the server.exe in it, you just need to make a simple config and your set
Federal 0 Posted March 7, 2007 When I downloaded Arma via sprocket (v1.05) download, it failed or did not install the arma_server.exe into my \arma directory.. if you are missing the file.. I can try to give you a copy, which ck-claw was generous enough to give me. Â So just PM me, in the meantime i will try to get some webspace so people can just download it from a website. Â (Im not sure how common this lack of the arma_server.exe being installed is, it may have been a fluke thing for my install). Cheers, Federal
