Mister Frag 0 Posted February 6, 2002 You should also go through the voice communications setup in the Preferences program. It sucks bandwidth, but if you are on a server with a good connection and the players have some discipline, voice beats text messages every time. I play Coop on a private server exclusively, and voice is the best way to coordinate our activities. Just remember not to divulge your battle plans on the Global channel -- use that for taunts only! I've used separate voice communications programs in the past with games that didn't have the feature included, but the VoIP works well enough in OFP to not have to use another program. Having it integrated into the game also allows the developers to implement two rather cool features: the Vehicle and Direct channels. Since the game knows who is in a vehicle with you, you can have communications limited to just the guys in the tank with you, for example. The Direct channel can be heard by anyone within speaking distance, regardless of what side they are on. As the distance between the players increases, the volume goes down, and you may have to shout into your microphone to be heard by the other player(s). NEO -PZ- 0 Posted February 6, 2002 1. I think the in-built VON's sound is very bad. I can't hear what they are saying. One description is "hard, metallic bubbles". 2. Sometimes I find the British accent hard to read. 3. I use Team Sound. 4. It happens sometimes that when I play multiplayer there is a player who never types a message. Then I tell him, press this and that button to chat, and yay - he's alive. 5. (Connected to 4.) Some people don't know how to chat, because some keyboards have another layout. (Other nations.) So, if not / works, then try -, I repeat: -. AFAIK it's always the button to the left of the right hand Shift, which is / or -. Then to change channel, press < or >, alternative: , or .. Alternative method to switch channel: Activate chat (press / or - and press up-arrow or down-arrow to toggle. Neo over and out.
