Connection Failed under Vista

Recommended Posts

The game works great in SP. The problem are that when I try to connect to any server I get "Connection Failed" Have reinstalled the game more then four times with no changes. Haven't added any custom addons or maps.

I'm using a router and tried to open the three UDP ports and also activated DMZ. But don't think it is a router problem since I can play online on my laptop that runs XP Home.

Have deactivated the Windows firewall and not running any software firewalls. Even tried to deactivate my anti virus program.

So my guess are that the problem involves the OS I'm running and that is Windows Vista 64bit. Have tried the compatibility mode and tested with XP SP2.

CPU: Intel Core2Duo E6600

RAM: 2Gb

GFX: Nvidia 8800GT (100.65)

Soundcard: Soundblaster X-Fi XtremeMusic

Motherboard: P5N32-SLI Premium/WiFi-AP (Nvidia driver 15.00)

OS: Windows Vista 64bit (Swedish version)

DirectX version: Whichever came with Vista

Using router: Yes (Linksys WRT300N)

I reinstalled the game today and patched it to 1.05 and now I've got the same thing. Any server I try to join I get "connection failed"  confused_o.gif

EDIT: Hey I think I solved it. I right click and choose "run as administrator" and it works again. Only issue is I have to use task manager to quit the game now, but that's a minor issue.

allow port 27910 outbound on your firewall, i had this problem as well on my server until i opened this port up. people could see it in the browser until they would connect then it would hang for a while then report "connection failed".

didnt need it for 1.02 or ealier.

i have no idea if the client needs it because i opened it for both when i figured out what was up.
