Diniter 0 Posted February 6, 2002 1)What's the asking price? I own a Radeon 32DDR and I really do like it. 2) What else will you be doing with it eg playing games only ,watching DVDs, mostly reading 2d text? 3)How long do you want it to last? Do you intend to play the newest cutting edge games and for how long? The Radeon will probably hang in there for a while longer ,but I think with the second line for ATi closing in fast and with the already hottest card line the GeForce 3 making the trend its making the Radeons future diminish quickly. Mostly peoples gripe about the Radeon line of cards are the drivers don't come out often enough.

I own a Radeon 7500 and it has got to be one of the best Graphics cards I have ever invested in! Go for it!

DodgeME 0 Posted February 9, 2002 Go for the 7500 model. Is not much more expensive and they performe better then the 7200. Anyway ATI has a great card there. I say go for it.
4WDTaco 0 Posted February 10, 2002 I own an ATI RADEON 64MB DDR VIVO SE (2nd Ed.) and I love it. It's awsome for gaming and also it has Video In and Video Out for some video editing or watching TV, outputing to TV, etc... When it comes to clock/memory speed the Nvidia cards are faster but ATI's hardware GPU is more focused on reaslism, textures, lighting, etc... plus, they're lighter on the wallet. Greg 0 Posted February 10, 2002 This is just my opinion, please don't bother using it for Nvidia Vs ATI arguments. I am a software developer with access to more than 30 different video cards and numerous test systems. 1) You will save $ buying a Radeon compared to equivalent performance and featured GeForce. But. 2) Nvidia drivers are more stable across more hardware than any other. 3) As a gamer you only have the choice: Nvidia Geforce range (> Geforce2MX400) or ATI Radeon range (>7500). All others do not perform well enough to recommend. 4) A Stable system is worth more than performance increases or money saving. So I recommend a Geforce2Ti (very budget US$80), Geforce3ti200 (budget performer US$150). You could wait for the Geforce4 series but you will have to wait, and be very aware of the misleading naming system. Visit some hardware sites and read reviews about performance and compatibility, then start comparing prices. kegetys 2 Posted February 11, 2002 Indeed, radeons are ok card but the drivers arent the best out there. Radeon windows drivers are getting rather usable (still seem to have bugs though), but they still do not seem to offer official support for any other OS's (linux/unix,qnx,etc.), where you have to use unofficial drivers that with my experience dont work too well.
