Some questions

You guys know those explosions, smoke, etc. in OFP? Is there a way to edit they way they last, the blast radius, etc?

I've got Binarize and there is some config files in there that could help.

And does anyone know where the radio sounds and gun sounds are located? I know they're .ogg files BTW, and I have a program to open 'em.

The damage radius caused by explosions is defined in the main config. I do not know where the explosions effects (smoke etc) are defined, but there are mods which replace or add to the default explosions with custom configs and scripted effects. "goldmember's realistic explosion mod", ECP and FFUX (flash FX) all use scripted explosion effects. Take a look at how they've done it - its an awful lot of work!

The config text files in the binarize folder are presumably used by binarize as a reference to the game engine config files. I expect changing them would only stop a binarized addon from working in game. You can easily use the actual games config as a reference instead.

Sounds and voices are found in "sound.pbo" and "voice.pbo" within the two dta folders. Mission specific sounds are also found within the mission pbo in a subfolder called "sound". Campaigns can use sounds within "dtaext\sound" subfolder. Sounds can be ogg or wss format.

Now, GoldWave can't open .wss files unfortunately, which can handle .ogg files...

It would be awesome if I replaced the weapon sounds with Armed Assault ones IMO lol. I don't have ArmA unfortunately, so if someone has ArmA and would like to take the time to get all of the weapon sounds in a .zip, and attach it, that would be awesome lol. (You or whoever else, can email them at chris_sb_fstr645(at)hotmail(dot)com.)

At the same time, I try not to ask for too much. Makes me feel like a greedy ass. banghead.gif

Just a thought.

Why not try to create some of yer own sounds?

It's not too difficult.And There's nothing wrong

with stickin with the .ogg format.

Besides slightly better sound quality in .Wss files, there's not too

much between them.Oggs might be slighty smaller too.

So you could happily go direct from Goldwave.

But I also read somewhere that Audacity can import .wss files

as raw data.So have a look at that.It's freeware I believe.

Btw,I don't have Arma either.Or rather yet.

But OFP is a good place to learn some skills.

Give it a go.Ye might surprise yerself. wink_o.gif
