I have bought ArmA today. I have tried demo, but the game didn't start (nothing happens when click on ArmA icon).

The problem is : same problem as demo version : nothing happens when i want to play. Launching with autorun, or Icon, same problem.  banghead.gif

My system : Win XP PRO SP2 on Asus a8n sli, xfx geforce 7600 xxx edition, 2 Gb Ram, Athlon 64 3500+.

I thank you in advance for any answer or suggestion.

Who buys a game when the demo of that game woulnd't start? Maybe you should have figured out why the demo wouldn't start before buying......

Doesn't DX give a different error?

Someone solved a similar problem by setting back the Windows performance options to "Programs".

To ckeck if it is do the following:

- Right click on "My computer" and select "Properties"

- Select the "Advanced" tab

- Under "Performance" select "Settings"

- Select the "Advanced" tab

- Check if both, Memory Usage and Processor scheduling are set to "Programs"

Additionally make sure you have enough disk space remaining on both, the windows partition, and the partition where you have Arma installed.

And on a second thought:

Have you got any Antivirus programs or the like running when you try starting ArmA ?

I could be wrong but I suspect AVG to be the root of evil. It might prevent the execution of code or the access to certain files during startup of the game.

Try uninstalling AVG please and see if the error is persistent.

I have just uninstalled AVG, ran ArmA and it still fails. Note I have the exact same problem with Battlestations Midway, which I also just tried to run and also fails ever since I bought it help.gif

I dont use AVG but McAfee, but uninstalling it or disabling doesnt solve the problem.

My solution for the DVD version of 505games was : using a noDVD crack... Strange when u have bought the original...

But now with the 1.05 update, that crack does not work anymore, and anyway i dont want to use cracks because I have bought the game!!

So it's really a starforce protection problem I guess... And i dont use Alcohol or Deamon tools.
