CONFIG.bin and RESOURCE.bin

Recommended Posts

Okay, go into the OFP folder, and there's a folder called ''BIN'', and then open that up...

There's a lot of ''types'' of .bin files, whether it be text, or something similiar to .iso, etc. But but but, how the heck do I open .bin files for OFP?

Thanks very much for any replies.

Damn!

I used Total Commander to do it and basically, I right-click the file, and go to ''File'', and ''Decode'' but it keeps saying invalid and stuff! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

GOD!

Says that the decode failed...

Perhaps you can decode the ''resource'' and ''config'' .bin files and send it through here?

cpbo only works with ArmA. For OFP you dont need to convert it, just get the original commented config from the breathe site (and the binarize package for the resource.bin "source").

agh! sorry about that. I had assumed this was for ArmA even though you wrote OFP in the original post!! sad_o.gif

Chain of Command (CoC) BinView can be used to de-binarize an OFP config.bin file!

Thanks a lot fasad and Kegetys!

I knew Binarize had something to do with it, hence Binarize...

I dunno if I tried looking for CoC's BinView... is there a link to it? (Even if Binarize works, I would love to have a link, just incase. wink_o.gif)

BinView is available at these sites (try searching yourself in future!) :

http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=6989

http://cr-ofp.dyndns.org/index.php?view=108

Be warned that it is an unpleasant program which needs installation and will creates file associations without asking permission.

Binarize.exe will only turn human readable config.cpp files into game optimised config.bin files - it can not do the opposite task.

When I asked about trying to open the .bin files I thought it would hold stuff I could edit. The ''STRINGTABLE.csv'' file holds EVERYTHING I wanted to edit lol.

What I'm trying to do with the file is change the radio chatter strings (e.g: ROGER THAT, ENGAGE SOLDIER, ETC.) and edit them...

I want to know how to make it so that I can make my own radio chatter strings and have them played randomly in the game. That basic? Yep.

Because I'm creating an ''addon'' called ''Botchat'' where the soldiers in SP would talk like they were human players and they would say ''Holy !@#$!'' randomly and etc, lol.

Any help here?!
