hbk 0 Posted February 4, 2002 Here's the problem : when using machine guns in choppers (the gunner is AI) the aim seems to be set too high, my beloved bulletz are landing a few meters behind this f*****g target, espacially with BMP, T72 and T80. For some reason flying low seems to reduce the problem. Perhaps he really aims behind the target, but i think he aims too high, well only BiS knows about this. Try, the "04 : Ground Attack" SP mission, the targets are not even moving ! I know killing tanks with machine guns takes a lot of bullets, but with this problem, it takes much more than needed. The problem was seen on early versions, but seemed to be fixed in the last ones (sorry, can't say which). Using OFP142 with PIII800/384Mb/GF2Pro
heyvern69 22 Posted February 5, 2002 I *think* they made the gunner a little bit of a bad shot on purpose, because when the gunner is really good, it screws up the campaign story because the enemy chopper gets you, or other targets, much too easily.
hbk 0 Posted February 5, 2002 IMHO this has not been done on purpose, killing a soldier (even with such pb) is easy. And well, fortunately, you're rarely on foot against choppers in the 1985 campaign Thus, i agree the gunner should not be a perfect shooter, but some "randomize" would be better than *always* hitting behind. WKK Gimbal 0 Posted February 20, 2002 Yeah, better aimcenter and higher AI dispersion of bullets would do wonders. However, I've noticed that they WILL hit if you provide a decent hoover for your gunner. And maybe that is more realistic after all, try being a gunner in multiplay while your pilot moves around - you can't hit a barn even if you where in it. SpaceAlex 0 Posted February 20, 2002 Sometimes Ai hit's and sometimes it don't.
hbk 0 Posted February 21, 2002 I agree that the gunners (in every vehicles) are insanely good compared to what you can do on your own. No need to play MP to check this, just take the gunner seat while the AI drives, and try to hit something, " hey anyone slow down please, i can't adjust my aim ! ". But, well, gunner is a whole job, and they are trained for this, so ... let's admit it. It's just it's so annooooooooying, when you see you dumb gunner making a mistake and emptying all of your rounds if you don't do something (fire/don't fire, change target, etc...). Just like today, commander in an Abrams, i just saw my gunner start firing 1 meter behind a running soldier, and keeping this for more than 10 seconds before hitting him with luck (thanks to the weapon dispersion). Of course killing soldiers in a tank is no fun, that's just for the example So, as there are many AI gunners, even in MP, we would appreciate some kind of fix
