Easy_tiger 0 Posted February 16, 2007 Ive just bought and installed ArmA from a local shop and It crashes randomly back the desktop because the arma exe is throwing an unhandled exception within the first 5 minutes of execution! Ive been playing the demo without problem (as recently as last nite) and there has been no change to my system config I have tried setting the video options to the same in the demo but this makes no difference. is anyone else having this problem? Unknown_Soldier 0 Posted February 16, 2007 Exactly the same here mate. There is no reason this is happening other than an issue with ArmA itself. For the short time I can play between crashes this game is great, it's just totally unplayable at the moment. Hopefully BIS will sort this out sharpish. Dogger 0 Posted February 16, 2007 Same, i could play it for about 20 mins before it CTD with it also still running in my processes. Now it does the same thing only it takes 5 mins to crash. Its doubtful its my systems because i just did a HL2 stress test with a result of 115fps average.

Easy_tiger 0 Posted February 16, 2007 This is driving me up the wall i cant get past the campaign intro without it crashing! the longest ive been able to play now is about 20mins in a CTF Im not going to state H/W n Specs simply because it didnt crash in the demo so theres no problem with my kit. This is definately arma related

walker 0 Posted February 16, 2007 Im not going to state H/W n Specs simply because it didnt crash in the demo so theres no problem with my kit. This is definately arma related Hi Easy_tiger You will need to state your machine specs so that the bug can be traced  BIS like most other companies test it on lots of different machines but there is no way on earth they can test it on every single specification on earth. By providing the specification of your machine they can hone in on what the problem is. The Demo is not the same as the latest build there are a lot of diferences in the code, island size, more addons, graphic code, network code etc. What is causing your crash may not have been in the demo code. Many other people are not experiencing the same crash so obviously there is an interaction between your machines set up and the ArmA code that is diferent from theirs. Telling BIS your hardware allows them to track down the bug. Not telling them means your bug wont be able to be fixed. Kind Regards Walker
Easy_tiger 0 Posted February 17, 2007 Hi Walker thanks for your comments Specs are below AMD XP2000+ 512Mb DDR @ 333Mhz Radeon 9800SE Audigy 2 ZS Also have all visual settings at their lowest settings and have disabled EAX & H/W acceleration When the game runs the performance is fine (allot better than the demo btw) it just seems to randomly crash. I have noticed that each time you load Arma after a crash the duration between crashes becomes shorter ending at the point where sometimes it will crash as soon as it trys to render the 3d environment. example: not being able to get past first campaign intro scene (beach) Ive noticed that there is a Feb release of DirectX 9 im downloading it now to see if it makes a difference
Dogger 0 Posted February 18, 2007 Just did a reformat and a fresh install of winxp 64 and it still CTD but remains in my processes. Also this problem didnt occur on the czech 1.02 version so what gives!
Dogger 0 Posted February 19, 2007 Looks like installing it on my C: drive solved the problem.
