phishadellix 0 Posted February 4, 2002 im not sure what the problem is here... i have a newer ibm netvista pc...1.0 ghz, 192 megs of ram, etc. but no graphics card, just an intel graphics controller. this machine can run higher end games like medal of honor and max payne no problem (given 800x600 resolution, no higher). every time i try to play OFP, it crashes to the desktop. i have tried everything in the FAQ, including updating the game to the current release. i get the OFP logo, then it goes idle, and when i do ctrl-alt-del i get a "Not responding" message from operationflashpoint.exe. ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated, because this game looks awesome, to put it mildly. thanks guys! mad love, yo (hehe) :-D Dane
Mister Frag 0 Posted February 4, 2002 You probably already know this, but there is a good chance that the problem is with the video controller or the driver -- have you checked for a newer version? You can also try turning down the visual effects using the OFP Preferences program, or try to reduce the level of video acceleration in the DirectX Control Panel applet to see if that helps. jimz0rz 0 Posted February 4, 2002 I would imagine that the Intel video controller is not compatible with OFP. Why don't you buy a graphics card? Or, it could be that your swap file is too small. It needs to be at least 400MB. ( I was told by Codemasters support that errors in OFP.exe are usually memory related i.e swap file) If you have any CD burning programs installed or running in the background - remove them. They can create access violations which cause CTD's. Check your motherboard type. If it's a VIA motherboard you must get the latest drivers because they are known to cuase problems. Thats all I'am able to offer. Good luck.
Illustrious 0 Posted February 4, 2002 how you can call MOH and max payne higher end i dont know MOH is quake 3 with new textures, and the maps in max payne are tiny! i think ofp has to be the most demanding game i have.. and when you see the size of the maps, and complex AI its not hard to see why.. but yeah, you will need a real graphics card, and some more ram wouldnt hurt.. ofp is nice when you have 256mb+ but if i were you, id upgrade to at least 512mb and as for a graphics card, id get the radeon 8500. or a geforce 4 just for bragging rights if money is no object
testie 0 Posted February 5, 2002 I just bought my PNY Verto GeForce2 MX400 64MB card at Circuit City for just $80.00 and it is great. I think Compusa also has it for that price but you have to send in rebates... It helped my PC which used an Intel card..
