eyes 0 Posted December 29, 2001 I finally got round to getting my free copy of XP Professional from Uni and am about to repartition my hardrive, putting XP in a new second partition and possibly Unix in a third partition. My question is that, if I do this and my cd drive letters change as a result (from d and e to e and f or f and g) will flashpoint find the cd or will it still look in the d drive (where it was installed from)? I don't want to have to install a no-cd crack and I'd rather not have to reinstall. Thanks in advance.
Krull SGC 0 Posted December 29, 2001 I have a DVD drive, and a CD writer, and I have no problem starting and using the game from the CD writer, even though it was installed with the DVD drive. (I just checked for you) I figure that the exe must check all available drives for the CD.
Mister Frag 0 Posted December 29, 2001 According to Codemasters, the CD must be in the first CD-ROM/CD-RW/DVD drive in order to be detected, but the drive letter itself doesn't matter. And as Krull SGC said, in practice, SafeDisc seems to be somewhat forgiving on that issue.
BigQEd 0 Posted December 29, 2001 I have the same issue to some degree. It doesn't happen all the time. But at times it will ask for the CD even when the CD is in. Very weird... and a reboot is required before it will work properly again. I have ONE DVD/CD drive...
