game crashes after playing for 10-20 mins

basically what the topic says. I play for 20 minutes, low or maxed out settings make no difference to performance (i put 40 A-10's on nogova with no lag as a test), and after a period of time the game freezes with distorted sound repeating over and over until the computer resets itself. wtf anyone know whats going on?

btw i have similar issues with like every game i play. battle for middle earth does exactly the same thing albeit after a longer period of playing, ArmA demo does it in like 10 minutes, BF-2142 has freezes but never crashes.

any help very much appreciated.

-AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual core (4200+)

-Asus M2M mobo

-1 gig ram

-80 gig SATA hardrive

-GeForce 7600GT

As you write you have it in more games than only in ArmA, most likely it is some system misconfiguration, like inadequate power supply, overheating memory or CPU, or some driver compatibility issue.

Troubleshooting those is quite hard and more often than not requires a lot of trial and error, and quite a lot of patience.

Check if you cpu cooler (fan) is working. (or gfx card cooler). But as Suma says, it could be everything.

ok ill try the cooling idea, im in aus and its damn hot at the moment so that seems pretty likely at the moment. thanks for the help fellas
