t3K-Mac 0 Posted December 26, 2006 Hi! I have an AMD XP 2600+ with 2 Gigs of RAM as a windows root server. when i setup an arma server with no guys ingame, the server tells me 49 fps. fine so far. now a few pals join in (5-6) and my serverframerate drops to 10-15. why is the server getting so slow? i was capable of hosting 2x 64 slot jointops server at once without any speed decrease. with arma and 5 users my server drops to his knees... i only use coop missions. any server commands/configs/hints to speed this thing up? and please no "buy new hardware!" - i won't. Rambo-16AAB 0 Posted December 26, 2006 Joint ops is actully far more of a resourse hog that arma and Im surprised you were able to run 2 servers from the same system that you specified. Our dedicated server which is well above your spec couldnt run 2 JO servers at once ( with players in them ). Are you playing from the same PC as your hosting? t3K-Mac 0 Posted December 26, 2006 no, this is a dedicated computer at a hosting company. with two 64 slot JO servers, you only experienced lag when one server was loading a new map. but this was only a few secs... this computer is running win2000.
Rambo-16AAB 0 Posted December 26, 2006 Its a bit odd. We pushed out server with 50+ players in Arma at the weekend, and the only lag we encountered was being caused by the games own voice comms function ( now disabled ). Its also running 1 JO server at the same time. We also found that the large 50 player DM map that ships with the game kills framerates no matter how many players are in it ( but the 50 player CTI is fine ). Thats the only map we found to give problems. The resourses used by the AA server are tiny in comparison to JO, although were hosting on an XP server as we did have issues with hosting on Win 2000 with JO. t3K-Mac 0 Posted December 26, 2006 strange. maybe its map related? i'll give the CTI map a try.
t3K-Mac 0 Posted December 27, 2006 no way. even if i only 1 person is online (cti 50 player original), the serverframerate drops from 49 to 15! what the heck?
Mobious 0 Posted December 27, 2006 This is something BIS needs to know since the Dedicated server program is still in beta...
