Bad Video Lag

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I was reading up on the system requirments and video card settings etc. I have a Nvidia Geforce FX 5900 Ultra 256 MB video card and pc is 2.4 Ghz, 1GB ram. Shouldnt I be able to run most settings on normal or maybe even low? In single player missions, such as convoy ambush I get BAD video lag with all settings on very low. The desert single player missions arent bad, but the wooded ones are!! As far as changing to 16 bit, does that really help? How would I do that (I didnt see the cnfg. file in ArmA folder). Any suggestions are welcome.

The problem is your Gfx card. While it will run ArmA, it's basically just above the minimum you must have.

You might want to try defragmenting your hard drive, run a spyware scan, and disable processes that you don't need ( like anti-virus programs, and all the other stuff that might be running in the background ). A bit more RAM might help as well.

In the long term I recommend to get a better GPU though. The 5900 is slightly outdated I'm afraid.

Please do send me those settings whiskey and thanks to you both for your replies. I plan to upgrade soon, but not really an option at the moment. What would a card that what push this game cost? Doesnt have to top of the line, just something that will push it easily!!!

Fox is correct, it's your GPU.

It all depends upon what you are willing to spend I spose. A 1900 series will solve all of your problems and then some, maybe. There are quite a few people here that have high-end systems like myself, and still experience problems.

For you, if your cash strapped, the best option would be the Radeon 1600 series.

Thank you marines for the suggestion...I need to update anyway. My entire system is about 5 years old, but I upgraded the vid card about 2 years in. Need to do it again. I guess that is why most video games dont go to PC like NCAA Football!!! Very expensive to upgrade the pc, but then again, it's damn expensive to buy a PS3, even when PC has better graphics and gameplay!!!

Yeh, I have a GF FX 5700.

You dont want to see my lag whistle.gif

But its all good cause I might be getting a better one just after X-mas.

Since I'd prefer to stick with Nvidia it will probably be a 6800 or better. (Funny enough it wasnt till after I re-read the game recommended, that that was what it 'recommended'wink_o.gif.

But funny enough I get considerable FPS considering, 15 frames on open countryside, with all settings on very low except for texture detail, I like my textures. tounge2.gif
