Warspawn 0 Posted December 14, 2006 Hi! After reading Sickboy's patch notes regarding his German to English translation, I decided to purchase and download the German language version from the website. I download the two parts from the host page then open ArmedAssault_Setup.  I type in my CD key code that I received in the email.  I switch the setup destination to my gaming drive and the Armed Assault folder.  It completes, then a message appears when it's done "Im Setup ist ein Fehler aufgeltreten.  Möglicherweise wird die Anwendung nicht einwandfrei functionieren." Basically telling me a mistake appeared in the setup?  Something about possibly the use isn't supported by this function? Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?  Very much appreciated, thanks! Warspawn 0 Posted December 14, 2006 Update on this... When the installation completes and the box pops up with the message posted in the description above, it seems there's actually an ArmA folder with the game program and support, but as soon as the box pops up and I click "ok" in it, this disappears... Warspawn 0 Posted December 14, 2006 A few pages in, I found someone with what looks like a similar problem, that was solved by using a download manager to aid in downloading the complete .exe and .bin files. I'll try this and keep you updated!
Warspawn 0 Posted December 14, 2006 ..sigh. No good. Emailed support so I guess I can wait for some help from them. The installation stops copying at about two bubbles in, at the \AddOns\Anims.pbo We'll have to see if I can get it running over the next couple of days... MR_TROUBLE 0 Posted December 14, 2006 I had a similar problem, my installation was stopping at one of the character.pbo file. Did you download a sum checker program? I did this on the advice of Metaboli's tech support and I discovered that the 2 downloaded files were corrupt. I also used a download manager which helped. I think this was the program they referred me to: http://www.md5summer.org/ I don't recall the exact instruction on how to use it...but I think you're supposed to put it in the same folder as your ARMA files and you then extract it there and then click on the Arma file and it will check the setup.exe and .bin file. I would check with them first before using it or maybe someone here has the info at hand. After a couple of downloads I finally got non-corrupted files and the installation worked. Warspawn 0 Posted December 14, 2006 I used the dowload manager (Free Download Manager) and downloaded multiple copies in order to test them. First of course, I had to contact customer support and request more download attempts... After mixing my setup.exe and another .bin folder, I got the game to progress to the end. Again though, at that point the error message pops up and the game erases itself. Support has suggested hitting control-alt-delete and closing that box manually. I'll re-install the game and attempt this... From Support: Hi, This is a common error and we still don't know why it happens, but we are working on it. When you get the error message, we recommend you to do cntrl + alt + del to open the task manager and close the error. That way the game won't be erased and you'll be able to play the game. Also we have granted you more download attempts in case you need to redownload the game. We recommend you use a download manager like GetRight http://www.getright.com/. This will allow you to resume a broken or paused download and should prevent the corruption of files. I hope this helps some folks! I ended up sliding my error box to the bottom of the screen after installation, patching the English version of the game, and then played for a few hours last night. Funs stuff! I hope I can get this working properly...
Warspawn 0 Posted December 15, 2006 Alrighty! Got it to work and stay installed. When I got the pop-up error message, but had the ArmA folder installed and shortcut on desktop, I shut down my PC while leaving the window open. Worked for me; came back, window was gone and ArmA was still there. Now to go work on my marksmanship a bit! *snappy salute!*
