G3pard 0 Posted December 6, 2006 Quote ]Armed Assault - the next game from the makers of Operation Flashpoint (one of the best games ever)Well, i was soo looking forward to this game. vids: http://media.pc.ign.com/media/748/748793/vid_1752633.html bought it 3 days ago. And all i have to say is :censored: IT! the game is, to be honest, the greatest piece of sh*t i´ve ever held in my hands. i installed it, set to normal graphik settings, got a frame rate of like 5 fps, (while my pc matches the recomended specs(x850xt, 3,2ghz, 1gb ram). in the Start screen. so i started the campain, first thing to see is a very poorly syncronisated big -busted - ugly newswomen. Then the "in-game-graphiks" video shows some of the landscape, vehicles and some soldiers. [check filesizes]http://www.clanstar.com/upload/files/Arma.JPG[/img] looks great, doesn´t it? (i later found out its some kind of LOD (level of distance) bug. apart from that, you get mission briefings, with mission objektives not beeing accesible because they are off the screen, can´t describe it, have a look yourself: [check filesizes]http://www.clanstar.com/upload/files/arma3.JPG[/img] "text here" ?!!! [check filesizes]http://www.clanstar.com/upload/files/arma4.JPG[/img] so i went to the website and got the latest patch, the game looks munch better now: [check filesizes]http://www.clanstar.com/upload/files/Arma2.JPG[/img] and thats one of the mild ones. in conclusion, the game still has some advantages, you can use the disc as a frisbee or the manual to light your stove, but thats a bit expensive coming from the 42€ I paid, isn´t it? --> i´ll bring the game back to the store tomorrow, and maybe buy it again.... in 1 year, when all the bugs are patched out.... ..but you probaply can imagine how fuckin angry i am after looking forward to this game for so many years. ps: no, my graphic card is not overheating, its a common bug on the BIS forums (where you can´t post unless a mod unlocks you which hasn´t happened in 4 days) text by a mate of me, got to agree completely
DEAD_RABBIT 0 Posted December 6, 2006 Painful indeed. Hence I will be waiting for the demo to come out. I am very doubtful my system will be able to handle ArmA decently enough. Hence, I hope BIS will release a lot of performance patches to fix the issues. I recall OFP having bugs (I played from version 1.00), several very obvious ones and several not so obvious, but absolutely not as many or as serious as ArmA, from what I have heard. I guess that's the disadvantage when you're not dealing with a major publisher who does handle strict quality value.
Zorbtek 0 Posted December 6, 2006 I just got the game (German version) in the mail yesterday (Thanks buyarma.com), I have my graphics set down to way low. Â That's because my computer is only a 1.6 GHZ - 512 MB RAM and and ATI Radeon X1300. (I will probably upgrade my PC soon just for this game, and mod making). I have not played through it all the way yet, so far, I'm liking it because it's still good ol' Operation Flashpoint from 4+ years ago. Â Yes the game does need some fixes and tune ups here and there, mainly some performance fixes, but I'm sure these will come more sooner than later. Again, I only had this game for less than a day. Â I'm enjoying it because it takes me back to OFP with tons of great new things thrown in to make it feel look and play like a new game at the same time. However, I'm still exploring the game. I only wish I had a better PC to do it in. I do have one problem however. Â This game was certainly released a little too soon. Â I can tell the publishers wanted to push Bohemia to the 'before christmas' release. Â So really, I don't blame BIS for any of the issues found in this game. Â If 505 wanted alot of money, they would have done a 'before christmas' release as well. Â But it seems 505 sees more in this game than any other publisher BIS has had, and they are taking their time with it letting Bohemia tune up the game to its TRUE release. Â I see 505 as the grand daddy publisher of ArmA, too bad they were not the worldwide publisher. I'm 99.9% sure when 505 publishes ArmA, the game will be in its prime by then. Placebo 29 Posted December 6, 2006 There's an existing thread "for those who bought the game how is it?". Do not hotlink images greater than 100kb.
