Can't hear gunshots from any distance over 3m

Recommended Posts

i am running a decent setup but i can't hear gunshots from a distance

i'm not the only one, everyone in my squad that has the game has the same issue

my rig- AMD4000+ watercooled

asus A8N-sli deluxe

2 gig OCZ ram

7800gtx

X-FI

i've tried HW acc on/off and EAX on/off but still all i hear is the crack as bullets land near me, or more often than not i just drop down dead.

any suggestions from anyone?

other people in my squad are using various cards ranging from onboard AC97, creative live, audigy2, intel HD audio and we all have the same issues, so i'm thinking we can't be the oly ones and its not hardware

Hello,

Ive the same system with a few changes:

Amd 4000+ watercooled @ 2,7 ghz

A8N SLI Deluxe watercooled

1G Corsair XMS Cl 2-2-2-5-1 (2x512MB)

Point of View 7800GTX 256mb

Creative Audigy 2 ZS

I dont have these Problems, but i know that the X-Fi series has problems in many games!

Ive turned off the EAX off and HW and ive no problems with it,

I downloaded the newest driver from the creative page.

Maybe try to update you soundcard driver

I posted this in another thread, but it could help you here:

Quote[/b] ]... I took a little time and played around with the settings of my Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Music.

In the editor I setup a mission with many choppers and tanks near and far from my position on the hill south of Corazol and then I started playing around with the in-game (EAX on/off, Hardware acceleration on/off) and the X-Fi Audio Console settings.

Things I noticed:

- the already well-known bug that with hardware accellaration you hear helicopters and tanks accross the island (I really heard some I put up on the northern coast; I like this bug as it exploits the many voices supported by the X-Fi compared to my on-board RealTek AC97  )

- without hardware acceleration some distant sounds seem still pretty loud, though the total audible range has definatly decreased.

No sounds I got as well - depending on the settings in the X-Fi Audio console. Depending on these settings, when I shot with my M24 via scope I did not hear my shot, though when shooting with the crosshair the sound was fine. Pushing a little around the Audo Console Sliders showed that this strange effect can be solved by changing the EAX surround setting (from surround to near, IIRC).
