Recommended Posts

hello,

I got My copy of Armed Assault, but it isn't running smooth so i want to upgrade my system, i don't have the money to buy a new system. Here are my current specs

- AMD Athlon 64 3500+

- MSI K8N Neo4-F, S 939 NVIDIA Nforce4 4x, ATX, PCIe

- Leadtek PX6600GT TDH Extreme Geforce 6600GT,128MB, PCIe

- 1024 MB Ram Geheugen

- 250 GB 7200RPM Hard Disk

I have €600 should I buy a Geforce8800GTS (€450) and 1 GB extra RAM (€150)

or should I buy a Geforce 7950GT (€300) and a new processor AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 4600+ (best processor for my mainboard. (€260)

whit wich upgrade will i have the best performance boost?

While I am not sure which would be best for ArmedA, I would think that you would get the most out of the Geforce 8800GTS than a slightly faster processor. Or in other words, at some point you may go to a Intel Core Duo and the 8800GTS would serve you better down the road.

At least that is what I am going to do very soon or at least if my wife will let me. icon_rolleyes.gif

For me to I want to get:

8800 GTX

AMD 64 FX 60 [the price has really dropped lately]

Western Digital Raptor 150GB 10,000 RPM x2

If you can swing it by selling some old stuff I would highly recommend getting :

6300 C2D - Å100.00 (You are guaranteed a hefty overclock, depending on RAM you can get it to 3.2Ghz + on air and thats faster than the x6800 that costs Å700.00)

Abit AB9 - Å75.00  Nice cheap and extremely good for Overclocking

Corsair 2 gigs 5400 DDR2 - Å150.00 (You can always start with one to save some money)

8800 GTS Å294.00

If you sell some of your old stuff and add the money to the funds you already have, you should be able to swing it.

Hope that helps!
