bl00k 0 Posted November 18, 2006 Hi, I just recently reinstalled OFP and Resistance after a 2 year stint in World of WarCraft. Anyway, I installed OFP(regular USA, not the GOTY) and applied the 1.30 patch, then the 1.46 patch. Then I installed Resistance and applied the 1.96 patch. Everything is fine and working. I then went to play the other day and loaded up OFP:Resistance and was playing for a while when I noticed the CD was sitting next to my monitor. My wife had taken it out to play Sims 2. I thought OFP was still in the drive. Everything worked though. The game loaded, played fine, did multiplayer, etc. So my questions are: Did the 1.96 remove the CD check? If I don't have the CD in the drive will the "fade" technology kick in? I have purchased the game, the Red Hammer, Resistance and made all my friends buy it too so we can LAN. I am not trying to hack the system or anything like that. I just want to know why it is working without the CD and if I'll come across problems if I don't use the CD. It is very convenient to not have to swap out CDs because of the way my pc is positioned it is kind of hard to get to the cd drive. Any help with this would be great. Thanks. MontyVCB 0 Posted November 18, 2006 I've not had to use the CD in the DVD-ROM since whoa, must be at least 2 years now, not since at least patch 1.85 if not earlier did I have to have the CD in the drive. I play sp & mp all the time i have no such issues you are concerned about.
Shashman 0 Posted November 19, 2006 Same as above. I've used the CD personally (since getting Resistance when it was released) perhaps 3 times, whenever I've needed to reinstall the game, and a few other times to install on friends' PCs for LAN gaming
bl00k 0 Posted November 19, 2006 OK, great. That answers my question. I haven't played in over 2 years so I thought maybe a patch had removed the cd check. That is awesome.
