KaiserPanda 0 Posted November 5, 2006 My OFP experiance is limited to Elite, since I've only started up recently and want to wait for ArmA. So, the third person view, is it always available in multiplayer games or can it be disabled by the host? How does it work? Also, reguarding the on-screen crosshair. I know it can be turned off, and this is probably an idea for a mod. I don't like the crosshair for un-ironsighted shooting, because I know you can't hit the broad side of a fat lady's ass past 50m without looking over the sights. If you know what you're doing, you can probably hit with fair accuracy up close without aiming, but not out that far. So, as a compromise, I was thinking it'd be neat if the crosshairs faded out if you are looking at an object past 25 meters. No magic eagle eye at long range, and you can still use objects up close. What do you think?
DarkOmen 0 Posted November 5, 2006 Third Person can easily be turned on / off by the server host. About the crosshair idea, that's actually not a bad idea for a modder to try out.

No magic eagle eye at long range, and you can still use objects up close.  What do you think? With a bit of training you can kill people <25m away from you without crosshairs anyway. And i know you dont 'feel' your weapon, but when you have played OFP for years then you should have developed some kind of sense of where you are shooting? KaiserPanda 0 Posted November 5, 2006 That's what I'm saying, you'd get crosshairs when under 25m (I picked a range, 25m sounded good). Past that, you'd either have to eyeball it, or use the sights. This way, you'd get the n00b crutch of crosshairs, but not to an unrealistic distance.

And what im saying is, under 25m you dont need a crosshair anyway, fading or not But it is an interesting idea for the 'easy' mode
