Subferro 0 Posted September 11, 2006 Ok, so I have a Dell laptop that I use for school, and Im trying to run OFP on it, admitted, its not ideal, but it should work, hell I had an older laptop when I got the game when it first came out, and it worked fine, but this one has some issues: Textures are all off, they're in the wrong places, off colors, all kinds of stuff, most noticeably, when the laptop thing opens, the keyboard shows up on half of the screen, with the other half being the black background, pieces of uniform show in soldiers faces, weird stuff like that. Im using -nomap, but it doesnt seem to help, any ideas? Or is this laptop just not gonna work? Specs: 1.66 ghz 1 gig of ram Nvidia quadro NVS(I guess thats the graphics card? Dont know, maybe its the issue) Thanks, and let me know if you need more info.
crashdome 3 Posted September 11, 2006 I've run OFP on less than that (laptop - 900mhz with 256mb ram) but that was ages ago. You should be running fine. Make sure you use the appropriate video card drivers as supplied by the manufacturer first. Than try upgrading the drivers, but in my experience upgrading very old cards is generally a bad idea. You might want to try upgrading in steps until it works. Don't go directly to the latest drivers.

shinRaiden 0 Posted September 11, 2006 Eh, an NVS in a Laptop? That doesn't sound like the uninnovative D*** we all know and hate. Try "start" -> "run" -> "dxdiag" and post the specs from the first tab.

shinRaiden 0 Posted September 11, 2006 NoNo, there's a button on the first tab that let's you save all that, but that's not what I meant. I meant just the info listed on the front tab, which is basicly just the content in the "System Information" block. The "display devices" block is relevant too though. First off, as a side note, throwing in a Quadro NVS into a laptop is imho just bizarre. NVS's are generally marketed to quad-head users, and I've never seen that implemented in a laptop. Do you have dual dual-link DVI ports on the back of that laptop? Anyhoo, it's jsut a rebranded go7300 with shared memory. At least you've got 128mb dedicated on card. Your drivers are the 83.13 version. Unlike ATI which offers no support at all for their mobility chips, the Nvidia unified drivers should be supported for your system. Try upgrading with the latest drivers there. That might help with your texture mangling. Hopefully you don't have defective memory. The scaling is a different matter. 1280x800 is not the default supported OFP aspect ratio. See my comments here, you'll want this value : <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"> 16 : 10 - fovTop=0.625000;
