in-game browser without dedicated server

Recommended Posts

I am wondering, is it possible for me to host a game and have it show up within the in-game browser without running a dedicated server? I want to host games without using gamespy or giving out my ip.

Thanks,

Jeff

I think there was a thread some where which explained how to set your computer up to act as a dedicated server which means it can be seen through the ofp server list.

Maybe try searching for it?

And to actually answer the question;

No.

Wich is too bad, setting up your own comp as the server and then it pops up in the server-list would be a pretty nice feature (*hint 2 BIS-guys*)

This is already possible since 5 years.

I don't want to run a dedicated server on my machine because that will involve me having to run both the server and the client seperately which comes to quite alot of ram and processor usage.

I want to host from within the client but have it show up ingame. However I have not seen anything in this forum on that yet.

Yeah, I know that you can set up you're own comp as a dedicated server, but not go to multiplayermenu, press "New mission" so ppl can join trough your IP-adress. Cause then you wont popup in the serverlist.
