Multiple Squad control with Onmapsingleclick

I am making a CTI mission where the player can control squads with the map. Instead of using dialouge boxes or the radio, I want to use the system that COC CE uses. I know how to the onsinglemap command with the diffrent key selection. But how do I use alt+click on the map to find the nearest group(leader) or marker representing that group. I thought nearestobject would work but it obviously does not. I tried to follow the CEs scripting process, but it is very advanced and didnt find the immediate process by looking through the scripts.

Anyone have ideas?
